Cindy Sheehan, the woman camped outside President Bush's Crawford ranch, has invited the president to pray at noon on Friday with her and other families who have lost loved ones in Iraq.

Sheehan is calling for a moment of silent prayer all around the world at noon Crawford time on Friday. She is asking people to pray for the soldiers who are still in harm's way and for their families.

Sheehan said Monday that other issues and groups have muddied her mission. Critics are focusing on Sheehan's comments that Bush should be impeached, that she won't pay her income taxes and that Israel should leave Palestine. Sheehan said her message is to bring the troops home.

Unrelated groups also have trekked to her campsite. Sheehan says it's all been a distraction from her quest to meet with Bush over the April 2004 death of her soldier son, Casey, in Iraq. Sheehan in June of last year was among the mourning families who met with Bush.

Local TV stations are suckers for it, of course... Let's make sure we do not serve as rumor mills. It's good to know how she is being covered but there is always this danger of giving false rumors legs. She did not say that today -- or yesterday, or the day before...
