I live in LA. There's no distinquishing between tourists and residents at the pumps! WTF? Beverly Hills is NOT the only area in LA with high prices. They are over $3.00 a gallon for premium in the San Fernando Valley as well.

Gas in CA is higher than other states because of the additives required by law here.

It's about where the station is located. I lived on the left coast for 20 years, 15 in the San Francisco Bay area. I KNOW how the prices are set ... and they vary by at least 20 to 30 cents per gallon at today's prices depeding on whether you're in a heavy tourism area or off in a resdential backwater that can be less than 4 miles away. I lived it! My (near and dear) cousin lives in the San Diego area. Same-same.

El Lay (and California) gas prices are high? Gee. Tell me something I don't know. Funny thing about California. It has the LOWEST per capita energy consumption in the nation. Ain't that bizarre?

Get the hint. BH is a large city. Yes, there are mansions and Hollywood rich have homes there. 90% of those rich Hollywood stars voted for Democrats and thus lower gas prices. How did Indiana vote in 2000 & 2004? Prices all over the LA area are astronomical, but that doesn't mean that LA doesn't have their share of Taco Bells, and those that work there do not get paid $80,000 a year. Rent control means that those currently living in BH (as in long term residents from years ago) get their low rents. This does not apply to those who want to move in. You will not see that on any internet realtor's page.

If you have a hard time with sympathy for those living in LA, then you have a problem with the concept of community/commons. Regionalism is pure right wing.

Actors and rock stars are often democrats since their success depends on a strong middle class with the discretionary income, and time, to go see their movies or rock shows... 50 bucks to see the Rolling Stones is'nt chump change for alot of people, and when the economy lags and wages fall that has to effect ticket sales for everything...

People in this country would have to starve before they would buy less gas. Food/water, shelter, gas... that's the order of priorities.
