1. This should come as no surprise to anyone here.

The republicans dishonor the military with scurrilous lies against war heroes like Kerry, Cleland, Clark, and Hackett. Why should we expect them to honor dead heroes when they constantly smear live ones? Bush lovers are loyal to their party, not their Nation. This vile act demonstrates their twisted loyalty very clearly, as did stunts like the Purple Heart bandaids.

2. You should've seen the face of the guy I showed the picture to...

He's a Bush hater for sure, but a Republican. When I showed him the picture and said "these are Republican values - surprised the flags weren't burnt up on his exhaust" - he had no comment. I don't expect many comments from the Republican sheeple.

5. Is this a teachable moment?

I'm sure there are a lot of Republicans who are just as appalled by the Pickup Truck Terrorist. In addition to giving this story a lot of play (as it should get), bring along the notion that this sort of unreasoning response is exactly what's gone wrong with our foreign policy. George no like something? George smash!

By the way, do all the people in the area around Camp Casey who have pickup trucks have an alibi for the time of this little act of terrorism? Including, say, the residents of all the nearby ranches and farms?

6. Cindy's entire vigil is an ongoing teachable moment.

A lone woman speaking truth to power.

She is teaching us courage, and in the process, the other side is demonstrating just how immoral they have become.

A single woman, standing up for what is right, is showing the world that the President of the United States is nothing but a gutless coward.

We're doing a pretty good job, for once, of negating the Right Wing Hate Machine spin that she's a lone nutcase or blinded by grief. The run-down crosses, though, can't possibly be spun. There's no justification, no reason at all for this except blind hatred and blind fealty to the failure in the White House.
