Please enlighten me....
I would like to know the reason why a lot of people here use * instead of the Chimps name when posting on this site.

Thanks

1. I think it's a doonesbury thing?
Cause he wasn't really elected president - future history books will have a list of Presidents and his name will have an asterix next to it showing he wasn't erally elected.

I could be wrong though.

Bryant

2. I think it's form Vonegut...

4. You are right and
many of us can't bring ourselves to even give him the respect of typing his name.

3. Primarily these...
The requisite asterisk (*) that generally appears next to 'questionable achievements' in record books...and his (s)elections are certainly questionable.

...G. Trudeau's use of the * to designate Bush in his Doonesbury comic strip.

12. Donesbury began the asterik with Bush1, not 2
IIRC.

it was because 1 was such a non-entity. Soft voice, zero personality, no charisma, subhuman ideas.

Might be wrong about 1. The adjectives apply to both tho.

15. After the supreme court appointed him*...
A senator, his name escapes me at the moment, stated that he* will forever, because of the nature of his* appointment, not elected, have a astrix next to his* name. Or something to that effect.

16. Historically
the * has been placed after a President's name who "won" the electoral college but not the popular vote. I think there had only be one prior to *.

19. The electoral college seems like an obsolete tradition to me
But I guess if it serves those in power, they're not going to change it.

18. I never capitalize the 'B' when typing bush...I do it for his father, but
not for the cretin.

It is just a minor show of disrespect, and means little in the grand Scheme of Things...but it means a lot to me...:)
