When is enough is enough.....
Why can't government regulate the oil industry and put caps on the profits? I know - it is not a capitalist notion to cap profits - but lordy - you guys are complaining of gas costing 2.75 (?) per gallon....transform that for us canucks - we pay 1.06/ltre which equates to over 4 bucks per gallon - and here is the real kicker - IT IS OUR OWN GAS....WE DON'T IMPORT ANY.

1. Well, that's all in taxes then. Look at Venezuela...
They import no oil or gas either, and gas in that country is 0.12/gallon.

2. According to this site, Canada does import oil...
just not a lot, and it exports more than it imports.

I have a problem with capping profits, but wouldn't mind a windfall tax on profits above a certain level.

3. We live in a mixed system already
capitalism for the poor we compete against each other dog eat dog and the corporations get communism.
Corporations get more welfare than people do.Next time some re-thug whines about welfare, show them the cost of corporate welfare.

Poor little rich parasites might lose their EZ life gravy train.
I do not think the rich dilettante parasites could handle life on a welfare check or unemployment check. They FEAR poverty and FEAR anything touching their stolen stashes stolen I say because to get all they got they took it from someone else who did the work by manipulation of law or union or worker desperation.

meanwhile we get medicare cuts vets get no benefits, and the poor are shafted more.

It is good to cap profits, when things are skewed more twords income equality, life is better for all.

That won't work. I tried that argument with repukes about
social welfare vs corporate welfare. They said corporate welfare was good because it created jobs. If corporations paid less or no taxes, even got money back, then they are able to hire more people. I swear they really believe this in spite of the facts that prove otherwise.

8. The repugs fear poverty
They are scared that if thier corporate masters are not well fed they will not get anything.,ultimately I think they fear thier corporate masters greed and would rather get pissed on with trickle doewn fantasies than risk displeasing him and get cut off from his wealth.
They have NO concept of worker empowerment and the fact corporationsd are dependant on workers. They believe the self made myth..

5. If my government would give me free health care and free rx drugs
I wouldn't be bitching about the $2.89 per gallon in my neighborhood today. If I thought for a moment that the extra money I'm paying for gasoline were to help our society, I'd be all for it. But it only lines the pockets of the fat cats; that's why $2.89 pisses me off. So I'm not sure you can truly compare the household budget of an average Canadian with the household budget of an average American.

6. Oil corps have to invest now, to be able to extract oil from
tar-sand and other low-value oil sources.

Besides, there's a large overlap between the current government and the oil industry, so it is not to be expect they will do what's good for the people, but rather what's good for them.

7. I think regulation is a good thing
Because the government should protect the citizens from prices like this. People have to use their vehicles to go to work and if they can't afford gas they can't use their car and if the can't use their car they can't get to work, adding to the unemployment number and slow econonmy.

for the first time. You don't see any non-compact cars. You see alot more bikes and better public transportation. That was years ago. Of course the freeps think they have a right to be greedy, gluttonous, pigs.
