The reason why Bush will never meet with Cindy Sheehan:

Because if he does it, it encourages others to camp out on his doorstep.

It's the same as the "don't negotiate with terrorists" philosophy. Negotiating with terrorists legitimizes them and their views, and justifies their methods.

If Bush meets with Cindy Sheehan, it will only embolden activists and soon he will have to contend with a small farm industry of protest outside his ranch.

As far as President Bush is concerned, in order to make demands on the system, you should write your congressional delegation, wait for the next election cycle, and contribute to your favorite candidate, maybe do the rounds on the talk show circuit if you can get the producers to return your calls.

You should not take matters into your own hands and start raising hell in conspicuous ways, as Cindy Sheehan has.

He can't and won't encourage such brazen use of the First Amendment.

That's why Bush cannot, and will not meet with Cindy.

The fact that he's an asshole and doesn't want to anyway is just icing.

I also really don't think * is capable of meeting a person face to face whom he knows does not like him and has the moral high ground. Plus, he thinks he's the big bad dictator of the world. That plays into it, too.
