RJC condemns Sheehan. "No place for jews in Dem Party"
Edited on Tue Aug-16-05 11:24 AM by damkira
(RJC refers to the Republican Jewish Coalition)

The front page of just about every newspaper this weekend noted the anti-war protest of Cindy Sheehan, the mother of a soldier who was killed in Iraq. The Democrats have jumped on board Ms. Sheehan’s protest – casting her and her message as heroic examples for the rest of the nation.

She has been heralded by Democrats such as Joe Trippi, campaign manager for Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean’s campaign for President, Michael Moore, and organizations such as Democrats.com, MoveOn.org, True Majority, and Democracy for America.

While Democrats are busy making Cindy Sheehan their spokesman and avatar of their views, we see her as yet another example of how critics of Israel within the Democratic Party have taken control of the party's agenda.

If Cindy Sheehan’s ideas are what the Democrats have to offer, then more and more American Jews will continue to see that there is no place for them in the Democratic Party.

2. Lets see, RePUKES fantasize about eventual Jewish extermination
RePUKEs fantasize about the end time, when Jews will be converted or slaughtered. But this clown says no place for Jews in Dem party?

4. Someone
needs to turn Joe Biden on to the fact that Cindy is right, and it is Biden who has his head up his ass assuming the role of "Presidential contender".

18. Because:
"She has been heralded by Democrats such as Joe Trippi, campaign manager for Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean’s campaign for President, Michael Moore, and organizations such as Democrats.com, MoveOn.org, True Majority, and Democracy for America."

Biden has stated that he does not agree with what is happening in Crawford. The line of "we cannot pull out now" crap leaves his lips as someone who is running for office, and not someone who believes in pursuing the truth. It is pathetic the way he has slid to the right in the past few months.
This is the problem with the Democrats, they see what Hackett has done in Ohio, and ignore it. They see the pole numbers, and ignore them.
The Country is in it's "last throws", and the majority of them ignore it. The majority of Democrats are politicians just like the Republicans, and they have proven their jobs are more important to them than the Country.
Thanks for asking,
I feel better now.

5. Oh for God's sake...
Pun intended.

Anyway, I'm a little tired of organizations such as this making the support (or lack thereof) of Israel the No. 1 priority for politicians of either party. Shouldn't the more important issues be what's happening hear at home?
And given that, isn't Sheehan still a valid representative of one view of the Iraq War, regardless of her views on Israel and Palestine?

17. Or any other country for that matter.....
I don't know that many Jewish people, but the ones I do know are staunch Democrats and know that there are much more pressing issues than US Israel support.

19. Absolutely. Any other country as well...
At the risk of sounding terribly redneck, when it comes to who can better run this country -- America first!
I care a lot more about a politician's domestic agenda and direct foreign policy than his or her indirect foreign policy.
And I do know lots of Jewish people. Heck, my girlfriend's Jewish, and I can't think of a single, solitary Republican among them. Though admittedly, I haven't discussed politics with everyone in her family. Just most of them :)

6. What a bizarre leap of logic that is
I suppose it makes a lot more sense for Jews to belong to the right-wing-Christian/minority-hating-Republican Party. :wtf:

13. This comes from the Republican Jewish Coalition: they are eager
to equate criticism of Israeli policy with anti-semitism. One wonders if the domestic critics (within Israel) of their country's policies are also painted with the anti-semitic brush... probably not.
It's just typical Republican spin= look for the simplest explanation.

16. NEWS FLASH: Many Jewish voters don't give a FLYING FUCK about Israel.
Talk to Jewish people my age, for instance; most of us will say we want peace in the I/P conflict. But we don't necessarily care who gets what land, or what God supposedly promised to whom. We don't think Israel is always right, nor do we think Palestinians are always wrong, or vice versa. We don't take "even-handed" as code for "pro-Palestinian," let alone "anti-Israel" (c.f. when Howard Dean got slammed for saying the US, as a supposedly impartial negotiator, must be even-handed).

Most Americans Gen X Jews I know are not "Israel voters," because we don't live there, we have no family there, we have no memory of the Holocaust (and thus don't necessarily feel we're entitled to it as reparations, at the expense of the others who claim it), and we're by and large a secular group anyway. We vote on issues that affect us directly (as do most other voters).

20. ROFLMAO. Know what I love? When Robertson has to Kiss Ass Israel
even though he and his followers are rabid anti-Semites, because the GOP is trying desperately to court the American Jewish vote. Now THAT is funny.

The Democrats are allowed to criticize Israel and some of its policies, precisely because the Democrats are NOT the party of anti-semitism.

22. Hmmm..
I think Robertson is such a great supporter of Israel because of several passages in the book of Revelation. I think it has something to do with Armageddon and all of that.
