17. He was not asked, did not bring up the pictures, just status of Iraq,Iran

Stewart focused interview on what is going on in Iraq/Iran. Hersh did not get a chance to talk at all about the abuse or the pictures that have not yet been released.

Stewart brought up that Hersh's predictions of U.S. strike on Iran by now has not happened. Hersh said that news reports over past several weeks show that stuff is going on re Iran and that U.S. has staging operations taking place in the border countries around Iran. He mentioned that Iran has been talking to Venezuela, possibly some attempts by them to use oil against U.S.

He was very pessimistic about U.S. achieving Iraq success. Said that there has been a temporary lull in bombing activity recently but indications that something big is being planned, possibly big insurgent attack or attempted takeover of Baghdad by insurgents.

(Of note: News story just came out this morning of over 40 casualties reported from bombings in Baghdad)
