Overheard at a convenience store today

Two men were talking. One was the owner of the store. Conversation drifted to gas wars that have been going on.
The owner told the customer that he had it on good authority that OUR gas prices ($1.97 Sun, $2.60 Mon, $2.57 today) would be $2.99 gallon at the end of next week, that there is a huge increase coming.

I surely didn't think it would be $3.00 gallon yet.
What I don't know if this is just local or if it will occur everywhere?

Trying to keep my head above water, but it's getting way too close for comfort now. I live in the boonies of Oregon and our food cost is going to go through the absolute roof. Pity those who are on fixed incomes. x(
