Bush in Idaho, and his people don't know why
http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2005/08/20050816.html

<snip>

Tuesday, there are no public events, still he will be in Donnelly, Idaho. And Wednesday, August 24th, the President will make remarks on the war on terror, and that's in Nampa, Idaho. And then he'll return to the ranch that night.

With that, I'll happily take your questions.

Q What's in Donnelly? What's he doing in Donnelly?

MS. PERINO: I'll see if I can get some more on that. I don't know.

Q Is that a recreational stop, Donnelly?

MS. PERINO: I'll see what I can find for you. I don't have it right now.

<snip>

Q Dana, can you tell -- I'm sorry, the overnight is Donnelly, Idaho, on Tuesday night, or Monday night?

MS. PERINO: On Monday and Tuesday night.

Q In the same place, Donnelly, Idaho. Do you know how far that is from Boise?

MS. PERINO: I don't know how far that is from Boise, but I can -- we can look at a map and try to figure it out.

Q I am, I can't find it. Okay. And Tuesday, he has no public schedule in Donnelly?

MS. PERINO: No, ma'am.

Q Well, he must be doing something. Is he fishing with the Vice President?

MS. PERINO: This is all the information I have right now, and I can see if I can get you some more.

For awhile there, Bush was going to Knoxville at least once a month. That seems to have tapered off since Ashe became Ambassador to Poland.

Anybody seen or heard anything about Ashe lately? I still remember hearing rumors of him. And he and Laura getting together is quite interesting too I think. There are so many weird things with Bush.

10. It can't be Cheney. He's from Wyoming. Remember? Cheney would
be in Wyoming if he is also on vacation. Right?

A dig to remind people that he was a resident of Texas when he appointed himself the VP nominee. But, they had to pull a little wool and pretend that he was from Wyoming. There was some rule that they couldn't both be from the same state?

How did Bush leave? By helicopter? Or is this an Onion type press conference?

55. Oh yeah
But why the rule? And I betcha Cheney did like Bush with his "ranch." Isn't Cheney orginially from Wyoming? He probaby left the state after working with Nixon and moved to Texas to do the oil business since that's the place for oil it seems. So he probably bought some place out there and claimed he lived there etc and he no longer worked with Halliburton. I betcha he still probably works with them as well and still runs the show.

Area Profile
Tamarack is a brand new resort located in the small town of Donnelly, Idaho, about 90 miles north of Boise. Situated on the shores of Lake Cascade, Tamarack will eventually become a four-season destination resort, but for its inaugural season will offer 700 acres of skiing on 25 trails, with five lifts up and running. With consistent snow and incredible scenery, Tamarack should have no problem attracting skiers and snowboarders to see what it's all about.

I've been in Donnelly and if I'm thinking of the right place, I remember it as a one Moose town. I mean really there is nothing there to attract the attention of the President of the United States. It would be like going to Crawford, Texas. Must be a really big Repuke donor living there though.

they vote Republican. That is what he was saying. I know. I lived in Idaho five years up in Sandpoint and traveled all over the state because my late husband and I loved the wilderness, but the fact that the people voted Republican against their own interests really frustrated us.

President Bush coming to Idaho on Monday

By JOHN MILLER
ASSOCIATED PRESS WRITER

BOISE, Idaho -- President Bush will make his first trip to Idaho next week, spending Monday evening and Tuesday vacationing in the lake and resort region near Donnelly and then speaking about the war against terrorism at the agricultural community of Nampa on Wednesday.

The president will fly to Boise on Air Force One Monday evening after attending a Veterans of Foreign Wars conference in Salt Lake City, according to a White House spokeswoman.

Hangar space has been reserved for Marine One, the presidential helicopter, at the McCall Airport in Valley County, about 100 miles north of Idaho's capital city on the two-lane State Highway 55. From there, it's just 10 miles to Donnelly, where the new Tamarack Resort ski and golf club opened last December.

Snip

His visit follows a stopover in Boise by Vice President Dick Cheney on Monday evening to help raise money for the 2008 re-election campaign of U.S. Sen. Larry Craig, R-Idaho. Cheney's trip was part of a swing through Western states, including Montana, where he stumped for conservative lawmakers.

In the Nov. 2, 2004 election, Bush won 68 percent of the Idaho vote, along with 43 out of 44 counties.

"Our state has been a bastion of support for the president," said Gov. Dirk Kempthorne, R-Idaho, in a prepared statement. "Idahoans have stood at his side in his support of our troops and his work to help the national economy recover."

This would be the first presidential visit to Idaho since Bill Clinton came to McCall during 2000, when large fires burned more than 250,000 acres in the region.
