China, Russia Join Forces For Biggest Military Exercise In Modern History...
The Los Angeles Times | Mark Magnier and Kim Murphy | READ STORY | permalink

AP/Elizabeth Dalziel

As they prepare to join forces for their largest military exercise in modern history, China and Russia have billed this week's maneuvers as a cooperative fight against terrorism. But they're also sending a message to Washington, analysts say: Don't push the two former Cold War adversaries too far.

The eight-day exercise, which is set to begin Thursday, will be the most extensive since Beijing and Moscow fought together against U.S.-led forces during the Korean War half a century ago. Originally billed as a modest exercise when proposed last year, it has grown in scope to include nearly 10,000 troops using a range of sophisticated weapons systems. <snip>

I just don't know what to think.

3. The US does the same thing
all the time.

A rattling of sabres, a display of strength, a demonstration of unity, sending a message...

This time the US has been put on notice.

5. I had been hoping that the rest of the world would stand up to bushCo.
but this scares me just a little. Plus the good old Connecticut cowboy and his posse might get their undies in a twist and do something really stupid...(I know, how unlike them :sarcasm:)

7. Not to worry...............
Yeah, right!

Isn't there anyone within the federal bureaucracy who can screw the Bush administration? When will the majority fully understand where the Bush policies are taking us? When is this screw-up administration going to be taken down? As things are going, there are no winners. This nonsense is a lose-lose situation. Oh joy, China and Russia. Things only get worse. I'm just rambling and feeling ever so depressed.

10. Nobody would stand against that alliance.
Surely not Bush's America. The thing about the Bush administration is that they tried to pick a fight with the littlest, wussiest kid on the playground, Iraq. No nukes, no million man army like North Korea. Its like larry mattlage...The one thing he has the nuts to pull his shotgun out over is the people who aren't a threat, like Cindy Sheehan. All pukes are like that...So you can bet they won't have the nerve to stand up to Russia China unless they are up against our mainland, and then it'll be us on the frontlines.

15. I hope you're right...
but W's stupid cowboy posturing (not to mention the prosthesis in his flight suit) makes me worry that he takes his "masculinity" a little too seriously. I hope he doesn't see this as a pissing contest.

12. If I'm not mistaken
I think that China and/or Russia, Venezuela and Iran have some kind of alternative oil trade-type organization going, in case they need to squeeze us out, or something.
