I'm having a Cassandra moment, so I'm putting it in writing.
Call it a bad dream or too much DU. :)

In the early part of September, 2005, I believe there will be a "nuclear scare" in the United States that will help justify the United States dropping nuclear weapons on Iran.

I believe Vice President Richard "Dick" Cheney is a part of the "planning committee" and President George W. Bush is aware of it.

I do not believe there will be significant loss of life, as that card was played on September 11, 2001. It will be "a scare." It will run 24 / 7 on the cable news shows, and Rush Limbaugh, as well as Sean Hannitty, will say a paraphrase of the following:

"Folks, this just goes to show you what happens when America does not take terrorism seriously enough."

I believe the only thing the people planning this scenario are currently arguing about is the date. There are some who want it to be on "September 11" for the marketing value, while others feel it should be a few days BEFORE so that the "good feelings" that come from celebrating September 11 can be harvested as positive political capital.

I believe the Democratic "leadership" question is completely moot. In other words, I believe they will be "passive" about this situation, while making "support the President" type comments (in lieu of hellfire and damnation for his making a "drop the bomb is okay" nightmare a reality).

I do not believe the Iranian death toll will be discussed, or if it is, it will be considered "manageable." Yes, the world will be shocked, but in the United States, this reaction will be muted by the "we were completely justified" talking points which will be repeated over and over again, until the vast majority of Americans start to think they are true.

I have absolutely no proof to offer that I am correct. I want to be wrong. I am a simple woman from Michigan with no access to classified or other intelligence.

It is just a Cassandra moment, and I've put it in writing.

1. Well, I'll join you in that....
if only so you won't be invoking my name in vain. ;-) Since I'm in NYC, I would prefer that Cheney pick another target (nothing personal towards anyone who ends up in the target area).

8. Got me thinking now...
if I were the Ba i'd do it in a slum area, so the local economy woldn't be destroyed (plus kill illegals, minorities, welfare families--why not save a buck while we're at it? Added benefit: kills Democratic voters, mostly).

SF proper OR a port would really crash the local economy and he can't afford to do that. A nuke would also panic not just the stock market ut the real estate markets, too.

So now I'm thinking gas on a subway, or a London style bombing. Q is, shuodl the BA actually proceed or just set it up then 'catch' it, thereby saving us all--hail GW.

I'm not sure what we can do to discourage and prevent this from coming about. My gut instinct is to take this to our congressional representatives and Senators for these reasons:

1. If or when it happens, they were told ahead of time. Can't plead ignorance. Not to mention negligence for not looking into it.

2. SOMEBODY in the Congress (either House) has got to go to the media with this, even if it sounds like a tinfoil moment. One of two things happen thereafter: One, it happens and the * Administration is implicated and the action is not one of "terrorists", or Two, it doesn't happen because people are expecting it to happen. Element of surprise removed.

3. We ourselves keep it alive in the public arena. Same reasons as #2. Maybe if everyone is looking apprehensively at Cheney, and military officials (e.g., Byrnes) will be a truly patriotic like Lt. Col. Smedley Darlington Butler (he prevented a coup d'etat against FDR), they at least will have second thoughts.

We have a responsibility to stop this even if we're off base, but I don't think we are.

Aw geez! It's today!:
Mother Media contacted NORTHCOM and JTF-CS Public Affairs and learned that the Fort Monroe drill will take place August 15-19. We are waiting on the press release which should also be posted at the Joint Task Force Civilian Support (JTF-CS) website. Fort Monroe internal communications indicate that antiterrorism exercises are slated for August 17th. Concerned parties can contact JTF-CS Public Affairs Officers Michael Eck or Kevin McNamara at 757.788.6259 or Michael Kucharek of Northcom Public Affairs at 719.554.6889 ext. 2. Mother Media hopes that mass awareness and citizen communication with legislators, law enforcement and the military could prevent such attacks, whether tomorrow, next week or next year.

6. I think we all know "something" is coming
Edited on Wed Aug-17-05 08:35 AM by Horse with no Name
"What", "When" and "Where" are unknown, however, we all know the "Who".
There will be a majority of complicit Dems (Biden, Clinton, Joementum, et al), and there will be a complicit media. We will see fake non-partisanship, cherry picked footage of support for the military action, and basically a neocon love fest.
We will revert to martial law and we will NOT know what the "collateral damage" in Iran will be. All we will know is what we will be told by the media whores.
We will never know about Plamegate or the DSM. Cindy Sheehan will never get an audience with Bush. All that will go down the memory hole.
The fact that their entire cabal is unravelling at the seams is telling and prophetic that whatever happens, will happen soon. They are NOT giving up their power that easily. There is already a trail of dead bodies in their wake--men and women of great importance--so you or I really don't make a difference to them.
Collateral damage indeed.

but I don't see Russia and China tolerating that.

It would be global-thermonuclear war.

Oh well, I guess Georgie boy thinks Jesus will come down and intervene on his behalf before that.

16. Using nukes against a country that had not attacked us would
REALLY turn world opinion against this country.

We would become the pariah nation of the world. The economic retaliation could be considerable. China alone could bring this economy crashing down, and the Europeans would be appalled as well. Can you imagine any of the Middle Eastern countries continuing to sell us oil after we nuked an Islamic country? Can you say "start pricing oil in euros"? Can you imagine any Third World U.S. embassy not being a target?

Deep down, they KNOW Jeebus isn't going to come down and microwave the unbelievers and make everything all right. In short -- they don't want to blow up the world, they want to OWN it.

I always find it interesting when moron* is on vacation, that he has several of these high level meetings out at the outhouse ranch. Then usually a few months later, something happens.

I know that last sentence sounded stupid.

Yes, I believe they are planning something, no, I have no idea what it is, yes, it will be something big, no, I haven't the foggiest where, yes, it will cost thousands of lives.

I loath him*

colossal failure*
