What would be a good movie?

Ok so for the fair booth our central committee wants to have a tv with a movie playing to attract visitors. They suggested fahrenheit 9/11 but I think this might be a little dated (in the sense that it has been discussed to death) and I think since people DO generally know what the movie is and what it is about it might attract more people who want to stop by and scream at us than people who are genuinely interested.

:thumbsup:Can anyone suggest a good movie that would be appropriate for a fair-type atmosphere (a lot of children running around) and would not go over too horribly in a semi-conservative area? I know that kind of limits things, but I am looking for something that will actually make people think, not just insight the rednecks.

I haven't seen it yet though (I just don't have the patience to sit in front of a tv screen, I would rather sit in front of a computer screen LOL)

but would it be possible to show a clip from the Conyers Judiciary Committe hearing on the Downing Street memo that was held (June 16th?), he had only 4 witnesses, Joseph Wilson
(Plamegate), Cindy Sheehan (Gold Star mothers), Ray McGovern (CIA description of Cheney's activities before the invasion) & John Bonifaz

Each one had a very basic presentation that summarized the March to
War, you could replay each 1, they're not long and I think they
were very well presented, and powerful statements, I don't think that
when people stop by on their way to get a hotdog that they will stay
for a movie but they might want to stop for 5 minutes

There are a lot of timely issues covered by these programs - not politically incendiary and relevant to everyone.

You can view them streaming online, then if you find one (or more) that is what you are looking for, you can order it from PBS (simple as going to the top of the screen and clicking on "Shop PBS").

I would suggest starting with reviewing some of the following:

"The Other Drug War" - Covers the rising cost of prescription drugs.

"Tax Me If You Can" - How corporations are now coasting on the backs of average taxpayers.

"Secret History of the Credit Card" - Explains the inner workings of credit card companies.

"Truth, War, and Consequences" - Iraq

"Is Wal-Mart good for America" - Discusses Wal-Marts business practices and how they affect America.

One I really liked, but may not be good for an environment with young children is "Private Warriors" the impact that mercenaries (and outsourced support services) are having in Iraq and on US troops.
