In his book "Spanking the Donkey", Matt Tabbi observes how truly awful the media is about reporting "counter-protests". If there is a REAL protest, with say 30,000 people, the media will may not report it at all or they may say "thousands". They will blatantly mis-represent the attendance by not reporting a number or using a misleading term like "thousands".
But when it comes to "counter-protests", they do the exact opposite. If there were a few dozen freeptards, they show clips of them as if it were about equal in size to the anti-war rally that had 30,000, even if the counter-protest had less than 100 people.
When I saw them reporting on a counter-rally in Crawford, opposing Cindy Sheehan - something like "mothers of fallen troops FOR the war" it really stood out as an example of media whoring. They really go out of their way to give air-time to the counter protesters so as to detract from Cindy Sheehan and the movement forming around her.
And you would never know from watching the news segments that Cindy Sheehan and Crawford Peace House have hundreds if not thousands more supporters than the "pro-war" side...it's very misleading, and done deliberately.
