I.M.Pumped!
I just returned from our local MoveOn.org vigil for Cindy and the response was phenomenal. People of all ages: children, teen-agers, young adults, middle age, and elderly couples, all holding candles, talking about how the Republicans are raping our wonderful country that was built on the blood and sweat of so many who came before us. And let me tell you, the response from the motorists driving by was incredible. Sometimes there were twenty to thirty cars honking their support for us. At times it moved me to tears. It can be confidently said that millions of Americans want this war to end. We have all been waiting for someone to lead the way, and finally Cindy did.

One guy next to me said that instead of being called blue and red states, they should be called blue and gray states, just like the civil war, because that is what this country is headed for if nothing changes. Lots of people believe that Cindy's vigil in Crawford is looking a lot like the spark that could bring liberals and moderates together to smack down the GOP in 2006. And everyone was remarking how inexcusable it is of Bush to be blithely bicycling around his ranch while Iraq explodes in violence and mothers who have lost children in the war are sitting outside his ranch asking the simple question, "Why, Mr. President, do you consider this war a noble cause?"

George Bush is in serious trouble, and he's too stupid to realize it. We have found his weak spot. George Bush will never, ever, ever-ever-ever-ever admit he made a mistake or give in to ANYONE. Cindy is his kryptonite.

This whole thing has caught the media by surprise. They just love a good controversy, especially in August, but they are very nervous about how to report this huge upwelling of support for Cindy that is growing almost exponentially! They are scared to death to give Cindy too much good press, because they will be labeled "the liberal media" (plus their corporate bosses will come down hard on them), but on the other hand they can't ignore it because it's all over the Internet and growing daily and it is NEWS that can't be ignored.

But the people who have been the most surprised are the politicians, both Republicans and Democrats. The Democrats, as a party, have been so scared to offend or be accused of attacking a "War President" that they have been less than useless. When we looked to our leaders for leadership, all we got was platitudes. Well WE are now the leaders. We, the people, are about to tell you what we want and if you can't speak for us, then just get out of the way. We have written to you for years now and gotten nothing but bland form letters in return. We frickin' told you there were no WMDs, we told you Bush and PNAC were drooling at the thought of invading Iraq even before the dust at the WTC settled. We've been right and you've been wrong, and now we're about to fire you if you don't shape up!

As for the Republicans, you are going to see them sweat blood in the coming months. You think they don't know a revolution when they see one? Oh sure, the DeLays, the Roves, the Norquists, and the Dobsons will strut and swagger around like they are royalty and the majority is still behind them but they, too, will come to realize that Americans don't want to get shoved back to the gilded age where children worked in the mines and employees worked for pennies a day and were fired if they got ill, because there was always someone else who was healthy and could do the job better for the same salary. We don't want to see children die because no one can afford a doctor. We don't want fascism, we don't want a plutocracy, we don't want a theocracy, we don't want the return of blatant discrimination, we don't want to hate our neighbors. We want a decent wage for a day's work, enough jobs for everyone, and a safety net for those who truly need help. We want respect regardless of our race, religion (or lack of it), regardless of gender. We want to love our neighbor and we want both political parties to, first and foremost, work for what's best for ALL Americans, not just a chosen few.

Yes, my fellow Americans, I Am Pumped! I firmly believe we are on the verge of taking back out country.

5. Two words - Electronic Voting
with no paper trail allows the criminal fascist republicans to rig elections.

BTW, your rant was very inspiring. Hated to throw cold water on it.

8. Yes, unless election fraud is made impossible, they will continue to "win"
Excellent current thread on this:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=104x4369575
Thread title: Election Fraud: It's Time to Make a Stand.

It's time and past time to put these feelings of spreading outrage to work and bring back democracy to this country. The criminals can keep stealing elections - they've got all the machinery still in place - unless the people join and fight. The DNC has shown in their whitewash "report" on the Ohio Election, in which they claimed that there was no evidence of widespread fraud (!!!!), that they will not address this issue unless pushed very hard.

9. I'm a little worried
The Election theft, DSM,Coingate, Treason Gate, Breaking the Media , then Cindy Sheehan shows up what should * do? * needs a diversion.

A)Have her arrested? He looks bad.

B)Talk to her the first day she comes? The story would go away much to fast.

WHY NOT

C)Let her stay? Mrs Sheehan-vs- * becomes the story. Doesn't hurt * that much, and * can become a hero when he caves in the end to a Mother of a fallen soldier.

Now I support Cindy Sheehan 100%, I just think she may be getting used by *.

10. I think it's just awful
that our sensibilities have been so traumatized that we fear the worst, think the worst, and worst of all experience the worst of what passes for a compassionate conservative in the oval office.

I too find myself imagining how they will spin this to come out smelling like a rose. But even when they smell like shit, the media makes them look like roses.

I watched twenty minutes of cable news coverage today on Cindy, and both times there were asshats smearing her as though their view was respected and legitimate and . . balanced.

I'm sick of it all, so sick of it all.

16. I don't think it will play out that way
Edited on Wed Aug-17-05 11:10 PM by txindy
Junior already looks like a coward for hiding so long from a grieving mother. If he gives in, now, though - or, worse yet, waits even longer - he'll look like a poll-driven, indecisive, weak-willed coward. Besides, Junior never, EVER admits he's wrong. And KKKarl will never let his hero 'cave' (in their eyes) to some commoner, particularly a mother.

I think Cindy vs. Junior is a powerful story that does massive harm to Junior, more so every passing day, and that there isn't a single person in this country who would think him a hero for seeing her in the end. The wingnuts will feel betrayed and thinking people now see him for the sociopath he truly is. He honestly cannot win at this point. It's checkmate.

been depleted. His most politically advantageous moment would have been the day he passed her on his way to the fundraiser. He should have stopped, put his arm around her shoulder and walked with her to the middle of the field, let her have her say and then drove on. He would have gotten, at least, a 10 point bounce out of it. The moment is gone. He's lost it.

26. You are spot on!
That's what any mildly perceptive and compassionate person would have done, but not George.

This is Bush's greatest weakness: he cannot, and I emphasize CANNOT apologize, back down, compromise, or show weakness public ally about anything. He is the ultimate spoiled brat whose rich Daddy insulated Georgie from any kind of failure at all. We must exploit that trait just like Cindy has been doing. We must keep the pressure on after he returns to Washington...maybe move Camp Casey to the Washington Mall where thousands, even hundreds of thousands can join her on the weekends (and being so close to populous "blue" states, large numbers would certainly join her).

Cindy has exposed Bush as a shallow hedonist. Can you imagine what the troops, facing death daily in the brutal Iraq summer, must think about their Commander in Chief relaxing and biking while they see buddies shot every day?

19. They don't care. They don't care because they don't have to care.
The MAJORITY of the American people have not been behind them for YEARS. They did NOT win the popular election in 2000 and the only reason * is in the WH now is because they have control of how the votes are tabulated.

THEY DON'T CARE. They don't have to! The media will continue to slant their stories against Cindy's cause, they will continue to let the * administration literally get away with murder. THEY DON'T CARE EITHER.

I attended a vigil and I'm glad I did but it is going to take more, much more, to truly turn this situation around. Is Cindy's cause and the Iraq war in general a catalyst for change? Yes. But only if we keep increasing the pressure. People are going to have to take to the streets and demanding change.

We are WAY beyond politics as usual here.

Cars honking. Thumbs up. Peace signs being thrown out car windows. 500 people filling all four corners of an upscale intersection. Absolutely amazing for apathetic Arizona. Absolutely amazing for a "red" state. I think Bush has a problem.

24. No people listen to GOPFighter
What he speaks is the truth. I was having this conversation last night with the my children and their friends. I told them there is a movement and this is our chance for the people to speak. Not the damn politicians, Democrat or Republicans, simply WE THE PEOPLE!. I told them (well I was loudly expressing myself)that we needed something to arise out of us, someone that had the power not to be taken down. I also told them it really did have to be a woman, because there is nothing stronger then a pissed off mom with backers.

We have to rise above and take back what is ours. We have learned (or god I at least hope we have learned) that we can no longer take for granted what we thought was securely ours. We have been sitting around quiet letting others take from us, not really believing that this could possibly be happening. But it has, and we MUST keep this momentum of peoples attention to the wrongs ALERT.

Your expression of the outside world GOPFighter was brilliant and helpful to the rest of us in this world. Thank you, truly thank you from the bottom of my heart for telling us.

Kicked and nominated.
