Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the children
of God.

---Jesus, sermon on the mount.

I just wanted to let all you DUers who were able to attend a vigil know that I consider you blessed and holy in what you do. Anyone who works for peace is a child of God.

Bless you, bless you.

And I hope it doesn't offend those who are not religious for me to say so, because it is the most sincere, beautiful thing I can tell you. It comes from heart.

1. The Beatitudes.....
Words to live by.

To bad all too many "religious" people like to ignore them.

12. I'm not what most would consider religious
But I do recognize the beauty and wisdom of the Beatitudes. Yes, they are words to live by, if only more people did.

2. That's what I don't get
how can people who refer to themselves as "Christians" advocate the slaughter of innocent people? How can they support the insistance that we sacrifice our children for such an evil cause? It eats at me.

7. I don't get it either: MUCH worse, how they can swallow Abu Ghraib
abuses without righteous outrage is beyond me.
I'm a liberal christian, and I firmly believe Christ was the ultimate liberal. I do not think Jesus would be supportive of a regime that considers torture acceptable.

3. I think most everyone on DU is here because
they want peace. That's my inspiration anyway. Lovely sentiment, Lerkfish, but for those of us who were unable to be at a vigil tonight, we're in all of your hearts.

Wether you believe in man or monkey our goal is the same. We want the crawford coward to meet with cindy and stop this damnable war.

6. sorry for the confusion: I meant my post for EVERYONE.
belief is not prerequisite to be blessed.

IMHO.

sorry if it sounded differently.

I just meant it in the best possibly way. If you want to remove religion from what I said, the compliment and support is meant the same:

peacemakers are the ultimate self-actualization of what it means to be profoundly human. Good on y'all who went out or whose hearts are with those who went out.

5. I love all of the Beatitudes, but this is one of my faves!
God's word gives us such a framework to live our lives by.

8. I loved all dos people! Every single one of them! Don't care who they
were or what their walk in life! All were there with one goal in mind and that was to support our troops! Support Peace! Bring them home! Support Cindy Sheehan and mourn the loss of Casey and all the close to 1900 American men and women who have died in the war of lies!
200,000 plus innocent Iraqis killed for lies! Not to mention all of the critically injured that will never be the same again! Terrible! May God bless them each and every one for their kindness, whether they believe in him or not!

9. So true
Edited on Wed Aug-17-05 11:57 PM by FreedomAngel82
And also something else to point out is Jesus helped anybody. He didn't say "what church to you go to?" He just asked if they believed he could help them. Also if you read through the gospel books you'd see that Jesus never tried to change the government of his time or encourage it. He tried to do the most important thing: change people's hearts and souls. These rightwingers have it all wrong and going about everything in the wrong way. It's really quite sad.
