KRON-TV (San Francisco) just bashed Cindy
Edited on Wed Aug-17-05 11:12 PM by senseandsensibility
I just watched the local news. KRON-TV in San Francisco covered the VACAVILLE vigil, as in Cindy's hometown. The entire report was slanted with many anti-Cindy demonstrators sympathetically interviewed. Worse was the biased subjective comments by the hack who "reported" on the vigil.

He actually said that Cindy was not supported by everyone, including her own husband, who filed for divorce after twenty eight years of marriage, and all of her surviving children. He then turned to a * supporter and said isn't it ironic that you're here, supporting the troops and Cindy is in Texas protesting the President? This woman also lost a son in Iraq, and apparently she was grieving the "correct" way and supporting chimp as a good mother should.

Every comment that I heard about Cindy was negative and snide, including the ones from the "reporter". It was vile and disgusting and incredibly biased. I was shocked, and am literally shaking with rage.

2. I'd expect something like that down here in Alabama
but San Francisco? Jesus. The virus is everywhere.

6. I'm an Alabama native
who has lived in the Boston Mass area, the Washington DC area, and northern California.

The media is controlled by corporations and, unfortunately, you can find corporate slanted news anywhere in the country.

10. How funny
in a sick way, I suppose. I used Alabama in my rant to the station. I said something like that kind of reporting might fly in Alabama, but this is San Francisco and we're not buying that propaganda. Anyway, I know that there are many good people in Alabama too, like you.

14. There are good people everywhere
That's what keeps me sane.

You're very lucky to live in San Francisco. What a beautiful city. I've been there a couple of times and always seem to find my way to Vesuvio, the bar across from City Lights, spend way too much time in both the bar and the bookstore. No, that's wrong. It's impossible to spend to much time in either place....

Cheers across the miles, senseandsensibility.

And God bless Cindy.

11. I am too
They have reported fairly and accurately on other progressive demonstrations, including anti-groper ones. I have sent them thank you e-mails in the past. But I just sent them a rant that should curl their hair.

8. has a memo been put out to press. i am hearing a sharp contrast
today on the reporting of cindy compared to just yesterday. all the shows seem to have taken this tack. they were harsh and critical in past, some and not others, but there is a different feel to the shows tonight compared to before. a bringing in anti sheehans and giving it to them to diss, and the reporter being a part of the dissing. i ma talking the national news too. hardball, cooper. it feels different tonight. maybe something to do with the nationwide vigils

16. Could be
I was shocked by the tone of the report. Based on everything I've read on DU, Cindy has been getting reasonable coverage so far. This was not reasonable. I boycott the corporate media, so I can't compare this report first hand. But it was very biased. I only watched because my hubby, a true liberal and sweetheart, called me in to watch it. We were both floored by the hostility.

12. KRON SUCKS!!!
I'm in the bay area, too, senseandsensibility. I stopped watching TV years ago but I recall that KRON has ALWAYS SUCKED.

TELEVISION IS NOT ABOUT REPORTING OPINION BUT SHAPING OPINION. It is brain washing, pure and simple.

Like Jack Rabbit said (and I say this to all, not just you): KILL YOUR TV.

There is only one issue here and that is the question a mother of a dead soldier is asking the erzatz 'president' of the United States: WHY ARE WE IN IRAQ? WHY DID CASEY SHEHAN HAVE TO DIE? Everything else is just bullshit.

I wanted to post and thank you last night, but DU was acting up for me. It was going really slow. Did anyone else have that problem? Anyway, thanks again.

19. No kidding, I gave up last night figuring the site was being
overwhelmed by candle light vigil news posters. I posted twice and gave up.
