Bush White House full of second-raters
August 18, 2005
It would seem that President Bush has most of his people in place. He has his pit bull John Bolton in the U.N., wind-up doll Condi Rice as secretary of state, five-time master of deferment Dick Cheney, rapid attack dog Carl Rove and — last but not least — Veteran Chicago Sun-Times journalist and high profile leaker Robert Novak.
Reporter Judith Miller is in jail for not revealing her sources. Novak also refused to reveal his sources. So why isn't he in jail? Is it because he played offense for team Bush?
I should add to the above-mentioned group six-time deferment guru Newt Gingrich. I wonder if G.W. would have rushed to join the National Guard during the Vietnam War if the Guard had been doing then what it's doing now.
John F. Kennedy said, "Ask not what your country can do for you. Ask what you can do for your country." Bush's motto must go something like this: "Ask not what you can do for your country; ask what you can force your country to do for you."
