OK..let me see if I can get this straight...Young Republicans don't want
to enlist. They do not want to pay taxes to support the war, or healthcare for the soldiers when they return. They do not want to try to conserve gas.

I wish one would log on and explain precisely to me how they "support the war," and "support the troops" because I just do not understand.

Are our soldiers going all warm 'n fuzzy over the thoughts of cheap yellow magnets on the backs of the SUV's???

1. They support the war
That's all there is to it. In their minds by questioning the value of this war we are questioning the value of the soldiers fighting the war (and given some of the comments made on this website, they have a point).

16. Just curious -- what do you mean?

(and given some of the comments made on this website, they have a point).

18. I probably shouldn't have said that
But yeah, if you hang around and read posts, you will see some comments attacking the troops along with the war.

20. Haven't really seen any myself, but will keep an eye out.
As former USAF myself, I'm always amazed and gratified at how much support for the troops I *do* see. I would hazard to say that if a poster did "diss" the troops in here, they would not be received too kindly.

2. It takes a lot of courage to paint "bush" across their concave chests.
It takes a bucketful of patriotism to duct tape a flag to your hummer. Doesn't that count for sumpin'? :sarcasm:

4. Because in reality they are not the "realists" they pretend to be
they are the kind of rude obnoxious assholes that run up a tab and are shocked to find out what they owe...the kind of person who buys a car and runs it until it runs out of gas and is shocked at how cheated they ar that it doesn't keep running without them putting more money into gas...

I recall a few years ago a GOP joke about how Democrats believed in the Easter Bunny and Santa....but in reality they are the morons that believe in fantasies about how everything gets done without anyone doing anything....

Democrats have always been the realists who realize that people go to bed hungry at night, that families go without healthcare...and that reality is something the GOP refuses to acknowledge...cuz some imaginary deity may come down and "fix it all"

5. My friends
You know it is funny. I have a 20th high school reunion coming up and most, if not all, of my friends are republicans.

It is really sad how they do not get it. They are all Italian (I am the only mick in the bunch) their families had all emigrated here a couple of generations ago, all union families who got a leg up from liberal policies and yet they are all now repubs.

A couple of guys are very pro war, yet, if they were 18 again, they would be the last to go. So sad.

6. Young Republicans believe they're doing their part
by winning the war of ideas here at home. If they can just convince us lefty traitors to support our Preznit with sufficient fervor, all those happy, loyal vibes will get beamed over to Eye-rack and smite them terr'ists right between the eyes. The reason we're losing in Iraq is because we're not all on the same page, magical-thinking wise. The fact that some of us volunteered to get blown up for no good reason really doesn't trouble their beautiful minds.

10. Last week 'MSNBC - Hardball' had a Young Republican
on as a guest. Chris M asked him why he hadn't enlisted in one of the military branches if he so vehemently supported the troops.

The Young Republican replied by saying that they are fighting another kind of war here at home, the War on Culture.

Interesting. Onward Christian Soldiers and all that ....

12. "The War on Culture?"
What--they're against it? That makes a weird kind of sense, I guess. And the nice thing about fighting the War on Culture is that Culture doesn't shoot back. But if your culture is positive, don't forget to take your penicillin.

19. "Anxiety and Magic Thinking"
A book that REALLY ought to be passed around:

by Odier, Charles; M.D. : Translated By Marie Louise Schoelly, Md & Mary Jane Sherfey

"Represents one of the first attempts at an integration of Psychoanalytic concepts with the findings of Piagets psychology"

"....the neurosis of abandonment. A major part of the book is devoted to highly illuminating descriptions and characterizations of the life histories of persons who always fear, and forever anticipate, and many times provoke, rejection and abandonment."

"ego & prelogical egression in neuroses; neurosis of abandonment"

Marine: That's very pretty... now can I please get some ARMOR FOR MINE?

9. They support the idiot-in-chief..NO-MATTER-WHAT because
The idiot-in-chief is furthering their RW religious wacko nut job agenda. They certainly don't support the troops! Their sliming of Cindy Sheehan proves that.

<>

or like the "dumb Blonde" interviewed at a gas station ($3.029/gallon) who said she was supporting the troops by driving a Hummer.

13. Selfish Covers It For Me
Also throw in a good helping of arrogant and mix it with complete igorance and you have the ideal Repugnican. Just feed in talking points and shake up with xenophobia and hatred and set him/her loose.

These people have no morals, no common sense. All they care about is their pleasures and 'rights'...which covers anything their short-attention-span flea brains fancy at the moment. There's no sense of responsibility or the ability to be held accountable for their actions. They all "know" they're smarter than we are and are gonna get away with it all.

17. Parents, THIS is what happens when you spoil your kids.
When children grow up believing they are the center of the universe and that "no" is a bad and rare word used by parents, this is what happens. They grow up with no realistic sense of responsibility, accountability, or community in either the local or global sense.

I look around me and see so many people raising future assholes...it breaks my heart.

21. Young Republicans are cowards
They'd rather remain stateside to oppress Democrats safely than put their money where their mouths are and risk their lives in Iraq to oppress Iraqi kids.

22. They support "war" as an abstract, silly.
Name a country. Any country. Say we should invade it, or at least drop bombs on it. They'll agree.
