http://www.unitedforpeace.org/This group kinda disassociates themselves from International Answer because Answer tends to recruit more of the radical fringe group whereas UPJ stays with the true message that we need to bring this war to an end.
The cost of putting a massive protest together in DC is mind boggling. First you have to organize permits with the various factions in DC including Park Services, Secret Service, DC police, etc and then you need to pay for such costs as Police overtime, sanitation and insurance. None of these things are easy nor are they free.
About a year ago UPJ separated from International to work with those of us who would prefer focusing on the important which is the war and avoiding the fringe groups that sometimes makes us look a little too radical. But when organizing these massive protests it is still easier to work together.
But for many of the peace groups across the country, including my own here in Delaware - Pacem in Terris, they work with UPJ.
This is a free country and everyone who wants to show up to the protest can including the fringe radicals on both the left AND the right.
Last protest in March was trying to get as many people out to the cities protesting, but this time the goal is to have one of the largest united protests in Washington DC. So if you can feasibly make it to either DC (BTW, I think SF and LA have west coast versions), please do. Just because I march next to people who's ideas I might not support means I agree with them - ultimately we are all there for one main purpose which is to end this war and bring our troops home
