Like most people here, I think the DLC goes way too far in their toadying to big business, and that this is really the essense of the problem with the GOP--the religious right stuff is window dressing to attract the retards, like sugar coating a cyanide pill.
How can we simply explain the proper relationship of business and government?
My basic idea is no business should be above the law or more powerful than the government itself, and to the degree that we help any businesses, it should be small businesses.
We also should have a winning issue with single payer health care in attracting small business owners, who can't compete with the big boys in giving out health care benefits.
A less often addressed issue is we should put respecting democracies ahead of the demands of big business in our foreign policy, so we never overthrow an elected government to make life easier for an oil company, sweatshop or plantation owner.
