this illegal war is so devestating.

One man told about his nephew that was being sent back to Iraq early. The soldier was an assistant to a medic. He had about 30 mins of first aid training. He was called back early because the medic and another assistant went AWOL, now this kid IS the medic.

1. me too (Houston/ Dunlavy Bridge)
We had our vigil on two bridges that span a BIG freeway in the center of Houston (10 lanes in each direction).

We had a lot of visibility, and there was an unbelievable amount of honking and thumbs up in support. Lots of truck drivers in support too, with those big air horns. Oh yeah!

I met lots of people with relatives in Iraq and Afghanistan. It was a very clean-cut, middle class crowd, mostly coming to the vigil straight from work, judging by the clothes.

I've been protesting the war since it was first floated as an idea, so I always expect to see the same protesters over and over. But last night it was mostly new faces! And people from all walks of life.
