What recent Presidents attended funerals of Soldiers?
Heard a freeper say this on another board justifying Shrub not attending a single funeral of a soldier from Iraq...

"No President since Mr. Johnson ever attended a soldier(s) funeral and he attended only two."

But I remember Clinton going to funerals for soldiers killed. And I think even poppy Shrub and Reagan attended some during thier terms. But can't find the links to corroborate my memory.

Any help?

12. Bush 1 sent troops to Somalia with one month left in his term.
Left a big steaming pile for his replacement

The military screwed up in Somalia, not Clinton. Although Clinton did heed bad advice by signing off on sending in Special Ops guys to get Aideed. They came in and acted like they were on a training exercise. NOT the Rangers fault, but their overall commander's fault - BG Garrison.

But now Bush 1 and Clinton are acting like buddies. Go figure

10. I think that you're right concerning Bosnia,
but 18 were killed in Black Hawk down in Somalia (October 93). I don't know about the funerals.

4. Here's more relevant info
"Bill Clinton attended a service in October 2000 in memory of the 17 sailors killed in the attack on the USS Cole.

After the terrorist bombing the Murrah building in downtown Oklahoma City he publicly grieved with the families of the victims at an event that was regarded at the time as a turning point in his presidency.

Like many other presidents he visited the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier."

6. Who the fuck cares about recent Presidents?
Keep the focus on Dim Son. How does anything excuse the FACT he hasn't attended one funeral for a soldier KIA?

Republicans love jumping to the Clenis comparison...focus (like the laser the Clenis referenced) on Dumbya and his incompetent "leadership"

8. You could catch him on that lie
and tell him that Bush attended the one for the unknown soldier (as someone else just pointed out).

11. Actually, I think every president except Bush attended soldier funerals
Bush 1 for the first Iraq War,
Clinton for Somalia & Arabia
Reagan for the 241 Marines in Beirut
Carter for the guys that crashed in the desert, I think...

and so on.

13. There's a famous story about the father of one of the soldiers
dragged through the streets of Mogadishu.

The father blasted Bill Clinton for "killing his son".

One Repuke in Congress pointed out that "Only the Washington Times" covered it.

However, Clinton also refers to it in HIS book "My Life".

14. You won't believe this one...
My repub sister's excuse for Shrub and the fact that he hasn't attended one soldier's funeral:

If he attended one funeral, he'd have to attend them all.

Unbelievable!
