Anyone else here support the troops in Nam by trying to help stop the war?

Then it was for the Vietnamese civilians. Bringing the boys home was always a major priority and you know what? Every boy I knew back then wanted to come home.

started when I was only about 14 years old. Kent State happened when I was 15.......changed my whole life. I live about 20 minutes from where it took place. Anyone know anyone who "spit" on a returning Viet Nam Veteran, besides the Repukes that is?? We were indeed trying to help the Vets by ending the freaking war.

The mayor of Oakland (Bill Knowland, had been Barry Goldwater's campaign manager) had his police in full riot gear standing at the city limit blocking the streets when the peace march from Berkeley I was in on tried to go into Oakland. Think those cops with their shields and batons felt a little silly facing the women pushing strollers, but never mind.

10. I did. I spent 365 days in Vietnam (250 air combat missions) ...

Then I came back as an early, pissed-off member of the Vietnam Veterans Against the War. I'll anchor all of your anti-war arguments if you wish. I have the background. So do many other great Viet-Vets on this board.

12. Tom, I spoke to a VV who served in 68-69 today.

He's disabled, dependent upon SSDB, with no pension. He served this country. He worked his ass off to make a 100K as a non-union worker in the coal industry until his spine was cracked and his knees crunched by his labor. Now, he barely survives off SSDB and says afte his next back surgery, he will HAVE to work, even if it's into a wheelchair, because he cannot support himself and his family off what is left of his life.

If only everyone were born into economic security. If only all those who are born into such security were FORCED to live in a life without "benefits" for one whole year. FUCK A PROTECTIVE BARBARA BUSH "BEAUTIFUL MIND" (under the thumb of the most controlling, heartless, profiteering bastard on the face of the earth)!!!! I got news for you, Barbara,...YOU WERE HUMAN TO FEEL DEPRESSED!!!!

Those who seek to impose their will upon the world should be in the front lines.

14. I was but a child...

My mother called me a flower child because of my actions & statements as a child.

I always screamed for my mother to stop & give a ride to a sailor who was hitch-hiking. She always did. My cousin was in the Navy, & I as a little girl was in love with him. I knew that one day I would serve in the Navy. One day I will post a picture of me as a child in my Navy "uniform".

As a child I, in innocence, spoke out for peace & an end to the war. But that is it. I was a child who loved my family members who had served, but stated that we should leave VN. I was really worthless, but cute as hell.

16. My mom has a picture of me when I was a toddler at an anti-war protest

with my my mom and dad wearing nothing but a onsie with a peace sign painted on the front.

and some of the protests I attended with my boyfriend - who had just returned from Viet Nam.
My cousin went and my brother in law went - both for two tours.
No way were they going to get my brother. I protested my heart out.

And yes I am proud of that too.
in fact I feel guilty that I haven't been in the streets about the prisoner abuse, torture and murder.
