Parents who disapprove of their kids' names being put on the Camp Casey
crosses. Anyone heard about this? I hear that their wishes were honored and the names removed, but a RWer said:

"Another mother of a fallen soldier, one who supports the Iraq effort, came to remove her son's "cross" because she didn't want it to be part of the protest. She was surrounded by the protesters and told her son was a murderer. No link - she was interviewed on the radio. Believe it or don't. These protesters are not the nice, grieving, supportive people the press is trying to portray."

Anyone with contacts at Camp Casey who can refute that?

1. Sounds like BS to me
There have been several encounters with families of fallen soldiers who did not agree with the protest, and all have been treated with respect.

Only one father came to the camp and requested his son's cross. He was given it respectfully.

This nameless caller (if she exists) lied.

2. I don't believe it.
They are trying so hard to make those of us against the war to be vicious, anti-American, anti-soldier nutcases. After the vigil last night, I can tell you there were people from the ages of 9 to 90, and veterans and peace-lovers. There was a lady who drove up in a Jaguar and people who walked because they couldn't afford a car.

I don't believe anyone called this lady's son a "murderer."

3. You've got quotation marks
but no source but a "RWer". Can you be more specific. Smells like bullshit 6 ways from Sunday.

It like "some say".

and probably don't need to. Christian forums usually aren't.

But I checked anyway. Wow, they not only track "blessings", but also "reputaion". I gueass that's an indication of how closely they hew to the party line.

Bullshit, bullshit, bullshit.

12. This one is better than some. At least they don't chase all of us liberal
believers out. (Although we are having a solidarity movement because the PTB over there are giving our GBLT brothers and sisters grief.)

4. It is a lie unless proven otherwise
sorry, based on the last five years, just because a RWer says something does NOT make it true. In fact they have been caught in so many lies, that unless it is PROVEN, I will assume it is a lie

5. This sounds like a script written by a Swift Boat Liar
Does Cindy say that her son was a murderer? I don't think so. It's crystal clear that Cindy loved her son and considered him a wonderful person. That's why she's so grief stricken.

No one who supports Cindy would say such a thing. But people like Rush Limbaugh would lie through their teeth.

10. I heard about this yesterday on the tube.
Edited on Thu Aug-18-05 10:39 PM by No Surrender
I was half-listening as I walked by the tube and stopped dead in my tracks when I recognized the name of the fallen soldier mentioned on TV. The woman being interviewed, who stands by ** and is against Cindy, was the mother of a soldier whose name I included in the postcard memorial I sent to Cindy representing the state of AZ. My jaw dropped. I wonder how she'd feel if she knew her son's name was also included in the memorial I sent.

On edit - I don't know whether any crosses were actually removed.

I was there, and no way she'd be surrounded and told her son's a murderer. Liars. They have one tactic - SMEAR.

19. That's what I thought. But how to win against this kinda crap? The
are desperately hoping to make us out to be evil and unloving people.
Short of giving these people a face to face meeting with Cindy so they can see her for the loving woman she really is, I don't know what to do.

Take the high road, and let it backfire, which I believe it will. Even if they met Cindy, it wouldn't make a different in their hateful, shriveled little minds.

16. flashback......
late 1960's, early 1970's......just like all the old retread hacks who run the repuke party, they don't have one new idea now, didn't back then. These people are so desperate, it is sad. Funny how when their BS smacks into the truth there is nothing more they can do, these folks are finished.....there is no defending this "war", not anymore.

Not one, NOT ONE elected Republican has come forward to answer Cindy's Question. Why? Because there is no answer for it. I flat out dont.

26. If any Christians actually bothered to show up
they would be stunned. Cindy is infectious. This sounds like a stretch of the story of the RW man who came to have his sons cross removed, and ended up befriending Cindy and crying with her... There's a term for what these people do, projecting the worst of themselves onto their percieved enemy. Can't remember it.

30. Reading their posts just confirm how brainwashed they are.
I almost feel sorry for them. How pitiful to not be able to formulate a thought for yourself. To just sit in church and listen raptly to what you must believe. There must be fears that one would be cast out if one did not believe as the rest of them do. It is useless to try and debate a subject with them. It is simply a waste of time to even look at their writings or listen to Fundies on the radio. They do not realize that they are speaking for evil out of ignorance.

31. The parents' wishes are completely NOT the issue.
The soldiers' names on the crosses (as I see it) aren't there to imply they had the same political views as Cindy. They are there as a truthful testament to the number and names of American soldiers who have died in Iraq.

I don't believe Cindy's statement is "all of these people felt the same way", but "all of these people were killed in this war and I feel that it's wrong".

Parental agreement isn't a factor here.

33. I think that everytime someone asks for their child's cross to be removed
That one needs to be replaced that says simply "fallen soldier".
I think they want to minimize the effect that the crosses have and feel if they take some of them down--it won't have as much impact.

"heard it on the radio" is not good enough.

Nor is "Heard it on Fox"
