The War Between the War Mothers
Edited on Fri Aug-19-05 05:40 AM by mopaul
'other mothers' are coming forward in crawdad, texas to counteract the negative effect that mrs. sheehan has caused mr. bush. mothers who've also lost a son or daughter in iraq are making their prescence known, and i respect their opinions as i do mrs. sheehan's.

but it is a strange thing to see in my advanced years, mothers going into political battle with their dead sons as icons and symbols of war and peace.

meanwhile, the so called commander in chief could give a flying fuck about either mother.

1. I'm intrigued at the two different ways they're dealing with their grief
The pro-Bush moms whose sons and daughters are dead want us to keep sending children to Iraq because they want YOUR sons and daughters to die, too, so that you can feel their pain with them... sort of a scorched earth style of grief. They want everyone to be as hurt as they are. It's sad, but it is not healthy. And, of course, Cindy and the other peace moms don't want ANY more children to die. Look, I can't tell a soldier's mom how to grieve, but I can gently tell her which style of grief should be allowed to influence future policy on Iraqnam.

4. He certainly doesn't`
He's been insulated from the world and consequences of his actions from being bailed out when he ran three businesses into the ground, through having the election stolen for him, for letting it happen on purpose so his ratings will rise out of the toilet, all the way to declaring war on a nation that had NOTHING TO DO with the hijacked planes on September 11th, and where NO weapons of mass destruction were found.

This is a man who declared publicly that he can never ever admit that he's wrong about anything, not after he's had all his messes cleaned up after.

If this wasn't a Bush, but a poor schmuck like the rest of us, he'd have been jailed long ago. He's whiny spolied brat at best and a psychopath at worst. And it's looking worse every day.

3. I'm not convinced that's the motivation.
I know a mom who is a staunch Bush supporter despite losing her son and she doesn't want anyone else to feel her pain. In fact, she seems to want to be the only one to feel pain because she can lord it over others as a martyr who lost more. She's competitive by nature, and I truly feel for her loss, but I'm getting more than a tad weary by her constant need to 'out do' everyone else on grief and pain. We all have our crosses to bear and the pain we personally feel over any situation shouldn't be a matter of contest to see who hurts the most. I find that twisted.

I think they want the war to keep going because they want to eventually see a positive outcome that will prove to everyone their child's (and their) sacrifice was worth it. Kind of an 'I told you so' thing. I think they are looking for the same answers Cindy is, but going about it in a completely different way. (At least the Republican moms I know seem to be that way)

5. Much like the mothers of Nazi Germany and ancient Greece...
...All society has to do is condition mothers to be vain, self-centered and narcissistic and it will have plenty of mothers like those countering Cindy Sheehan.

7. Anther example of the legacy of the "Uniter, not a Divider"--
this usurper is the single most destructive human being in living memory.

8. Must Be Hell
to know your child died for a LIE!!

I don't blame them to try to make sense of it. Only thing is, there is NO SENSE!

Someone please ask these mothers:

"Where are those weapons of mass destruction?"

"Did you see the pResident smiling, laughing, and jokingly looking for them under the tablecloth of his $5000 a plate fundraiser?"

oh, and

"Where's Osama?"

I don't want to be there when they come to the realization that their child was used by this administration to score political points and make their rich contributers richer.

I don't blame them for wanting to believe their children died for a "noble" cause...We usually expect more from our leaders than we have lately.

9. I agree with you. Without a doubt, this group in power
now is the most cynical, manipulative, amoral operatives in our history. The PR exercise they have been engaged in for the past decade is shameful. The worst part is they really don't care.

No.

The worst part is that they don't need to.
