I think all the member of Congress who voted for this invasion of Iraq and who supported the war even AFTER learning of Bush's lies and deceit should resign right now or at least not run for re-election. And administration officials in the Cabinet and executive branches should be tried for high crimes and treason.

however, they could of asked and considered longer about this. the administration had to use imminent threat of danger according to the war powers act and that is what they set up.

3. They had the information. All they had to do was read the WaPo

message boards where many from inside the government were posting. No excuses - they allowed the lies to be told unchallenged. All they offer us is their self serving cunning. They have abandoned their Constitutional role and there poll numbers (chronically in the low 30's) are well deserved.

4. I don't buy that

Sure, we all got lied to.

But when ten million civilians in the world get up and protest against it, and call the administration on their lies, Congress had NO FUCKING EXCUSE to go along with it.

How is it that I knew that Bush was lying, but Congress didn't? How is it that a cabdriver that drove me somewhere before the invasion TOLD ME that Iraq had no WMD, and was going to end up in Iran's pocket at the end of this? What's their excuse? Congress doesn't have access to cabdrivers?

No, the truth, unfortunately, is that we were all sold out by politicians who voted for the war for political cover. Democrats who voted for the Iraq invasion did so because they thought that Bush would actually pull this off successfully, and didn't want to appear 'weak'. They were political cowards.

Fuck them. I will NOT vote for anyone in Congress who voted for the war anymore. They were either criminally cynical, or incredibly incompetent. In both cases, they are unfit to serve in Congress. Luckily, I guess, I'm represented by at least two Congresspersons who voted against it. The third one who voted for the invasion (I'm talking to YOU Herbie!) better watch out during the primaries...
