The Truth about the Right Wing Revolution

There has been a lot of talk about RW'ers saying that since Bush has been 'reelected', it is now time for a RW Revolution.

When you think 'Revolution', what images come to mind?

Do you see poor and oppressed people rising up against Evil, do you see people peacefully changing cruel and oppressive laws, how about Martin Luther King or Gandhi?

These are all things that remind of us Revolutions, but you can also see that the RW'ers say 'Revolution', but they are really saying 'Rollback'.

If my estimates are correct, we won't be rolling back just decades, we could roll back CENTURIES, let me explain how we could lose so much progress in Human and Civil Rights as we go through this post.

This is in no order, the RW'ers want to rollback ASAP, so it's up to them.

1. Women's Rights
A. Overturn Roe V. Wade - This will allow a State the right to ban abortion and contraceptives
B. Also to go are many other bills that have allowed women to climb up almost as high as their male counterparts

2. GLBT Rights
A. Overturn Lawrence V. Texas - This will allow a State to incarcerate GLBT people
B. 'Moral' Objection Laws - Some hospitals are allowed to refuse to treat GLBT people

3. Rights of the Accused
A. Overturn Miranda V. Arizona - This will allow Police Officers to have the right NOT to tell you that you have the right to remain silent, that you have the right to see an Attorney, etc.

4. Civil Rights
A. Overturn the Civil Rights Act (Esp. the Civil Rights Act of 1964) - This will bring racism back to America
B. Some schools are already segregating to a degree (There was a story about a school that still had a segregated Prom (it was voluntary, but still it breaks my heart to see this happening))
C. Remember those 'Moral' Objection Laws from up above? In theory, these laws can also be used to discriminate against other groups of people too

5. The 'reform' of Social Security
The RW'ers HATE Social Security. Honestly, have you seen the supporters of 'Bush's plan'? They sometimes get 'abolish' confused with 'reform'! BTW, the idea of Social Security 'Reform' in the way of Private Accounts came from one of Pinochet's Advisers (And we know how much the Pinochet Regime hated Leftist ideas such as Social Security). So yes, they want to get rid of Social Security.

6. Rights of the People
End of Travel - OIL (Operation Iraqi Liberation) was a success. So, why is the price of oil so high? I don't know, but what I do know is that the price of gas is also skyrocketing. Think of this, gas at $3 per gallon, 4$ per gallon, 5$ per gallon, where would it end? If this were to keep up, eventually gasoline will become so expensive that it will become an asset of the rich and elite. If it were to get that bad, then the poor and what remains of the middle class will be in effect, tied to the land.

3. The RW-Christian myth of oppression

RW-Christians fiercely cling to the idea that they are oppressed.

That myth must be shattered. It is false. They are free to form churches and practice their religion. Name one other religion in the US which has numerous TV shows on at the same time on Sunday mornings in the SAME CITY? That has numerous Cable and Radio channels dedicated soley to that religion?

Christians are NOT oppressed in this country. They are the dominant religion in this country. YOU CAN'T HAVE A REVOLUTION AGAINST YOURSELF.

So, when they talk of revolution, what they are really saying is that they want a religious coup. A religiious takeover of the government. An American counterpart to the Taliban.

Arrrrrr! Sorry, this topic just pushes my buttons. Can't post sensibly about it.

I can't see how "Conservatives" are the forward thinkers . . . conservative, by its definition, means keeping things the way they are . . . right?

People like Kevin Phillips are true conservatives. They find this administration extremely offensive.

The only area that I see slightly different involves abortion, etc. The right wing only seeks to limit two things: {1} their daughters' reproductive rights; and {2} having to pay for poor folk's birth control and abortions.

The right wing wants to exercise a degree of control over "their own," which I believe is distinct from their concerns about the poor. They may give lip service to loving the fetus of that poor woman they drive by in the comfort of their limo, but deep down they see the growing underclass as the embryotic stage of social upheaval. They do not want to pay for her abortion, but they don't want another poor kid around, either.
