Bush Plans Sept. 11 Reminders
By RON FOURNIER
The Associated Press
Friday, August 19, 2005; 10:55 AM

WASHINGTON -- What began as one mother's vigil on a country road in Texas two weeks ago has grown into a nationwide protest, putting a grieving human face to the miseries of war and the misgivings about President Bush's strategies in Iraq.
.....
Changing the subject would help Bush, and he has a chance to do that with the upcoming fourth anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist strikes. Aides say the president plans to invoke Sept. 11 in his weekly radio address Saturday as he begins a weeklong push to remind Americans why he believes the United States must stay on the offensive in Iraq and not bow to terrorists. He plans to address the Veterans of Foreign Wars on Monday and a National Guard group on Wednesday.

Whether or not she has sparked a lasting anti-war movement, it can't be denied that Sheehan has thrust herself and her cause into the spotlight at near-record speed......

1. "He plans to address the Veterans of Foreign Wars on Monday"
Wonder if he's going to hand out those bandaids with purple hearts?

8. He would fit in really
well with our local VFW which is periodically over run with super patriots and phony veterans waving flags and saying patriotic things and then is robbed of all its patriotic funds.

Seems to be a seven year cycle to those shenanigans.

The VFW magazine has become a right wing rag as well.

13. Twas always thus...
The American Legion spent the Depression years as a mob beating up homeless drifters....

And whenever you hear about "leftists" spitting on VietNam vets, you might remember that a lot of VFW posts would not allow VietNam vets into their organziation for many years...

4. Your subject line made me laugh.
He certainly does plan 9/11 reminders - he plans to remind us every time he opens his mouth!

Terra, terra, 9/11, Saddam, 9/11, terra, terra.

do is remind people that we're fighting the wrong war. The guy who did 9-11 is still out running around. Apparently the attempts to sell the illegal war with "Free Iraq" isn't working anymore. Let them free themselves.

9. "Whether or not she has sparked
a lasting anti-war movement" - the implication being there was no anti-war movement before Cindy and may not be one after she returns home.

Fournier has his head either in the sand or up the chimp's ass.

As for the headline, when the hell did the chimp ever stop mentioning Sept. 11? At this point it's all he has to fall back on.

Good. Let him keep doing it - no one's listening anymore. It's really amusing they continue to milk 9/11 and connect it to Iraq despite what we know. Keep digging that hole....

11. I hope that the IVFP
hold up big signs saying "we enlisted because of 9/11........ how did we end up in Iraq"

I listened to Randi's show yesterday and they were talking to a mother who had two sons. One was already in Iraq and the other was about to go. She was talking about how many of the guys that oppose the war signed up in response to 9/11 and now are stuck in Iraq. I think it would be powerful to hear from them as we approach 9/11.

12. A common conservative scold said on Anderson Cooper
last Wednesday that Iraq was the front line in the war on terrorism, and tried to draw a parallel with 9/11

Anderson Cooper tried to correct her, but she talked right over the top of him. He finally got a word in edgewise, and he said "The 9/11 commission found absolutely no link between 9/11 and Iraq, why do you keep insisting there is?

She replied with a rambling comment about the beliefs of the Iraqi insurgents being similar to the beliefs of Al Quada. She summarized by saying that it was pretty much all the same thing.

She was a White House spokes-scold and I forget what her name was.

They are gearing up to spread more lies.

14. Let me get this straight
A woman who loses her son to a bullshit war and wants answers is accused of "pimping" out her son's death, while idiot boy will ONCE AGAIN use the lives of 3,000 people to pimp out his bullshit war and the pukes will be hollering and cheering. :eyes:
