(I know that is mighty cocky of me to address this to EVERYONE but I really mean what I'm saying)
Look. I know it is frustrating to many here that we are not all concentrating on the DSM or Rovegate/Plamegate;etc. I know there are those who are tired of Cindy News Network. Please take a moment and allow me to explain something about the big picture.
This is working. It is all working. It is going according to plan; things are progressing in the right direction. (Insert appropriate cliche here). The worm has turned. It's going to be ok.
Now before you scream that it isn't; step back and look at the BIG picture. WAAAAAAY back. Take it all in. I'm telling you; it is moving the way it should. That may not be fast enough for you (or me!) but great change happens slowly. This country is at a turning point in spirit and things like that don't happen overnight (are you doubting the hippies' Age of Aquarius now? Look again.....).
Things aren't going to be EXACTLY the way we wanted. But they sure as hell aren't going to be the way the RW Neocons want them either. Dust in the wind and all; you know. Go ahead; make fun of the "hippie" ideals of the sixties. They weren't all wrong. When are you going to admit this?
My long and winding point: Cindy had to happen to lead us into the place where the DSM and Plamegate and everything else can. These stories go nowhere by themselves; they can be individually dissected and torn down. United they stand invincible; as do we. Cindy is the perfect catalyst for this. Before you jump on me saying I am espousing "using" her vigil for political gain; that is not my intent. But let's be realistic. It will be a great unifier and motivator; and who is to say that in the end it shouldn't? Maybe that's the way it is supposed to be! Cliche time:
All things in good time.
To everything there is a season...
Imagine the universe beautiful and just and perfect; then be sure of one thing: the IS has imagined it quite a bit better than you have.
(For the athiests; do you really think the laws of physics and mathmatics DON'T require balance in nature? And who says we're not a part of nature?)
Do you really think by yourself that you have a better grasp on the plan than us as a collective/the greater good/God/the universe/evolution? Now THAT'S cocky!!

/Slight rant off

9. Look at the pictures of the vigils
these are everyday "normal" people not the far fringes, Cindy managed to pull them away from their TV's, Soccor games and other daily life fillers to start a movement of people who are now willing to speak and stand in defiance to the Rulers of this Nation...The Long Sleep is stirred, and the masses are awaking and coming forward. The movement is now larger than Cindy...and I did notice last night on the news (cable) that the newspeople (Cooper Anderson, Keith Obermann, and even Paula Zahn) seemed to say, (with their questioning how strong the movement has become by asking if the vigil will go on) in their own way, to keep with it, we are making headway and they will keep covering it as a grassroots movement now. I think there is a majority that is feed-up and were waiting for a catalyst and now it's here. I see over a million showing up for the Peace Ralley on Sept. 24th...I see ongoing vigils starting on the lawn of the White House...I see a movement that will bring change...

Does that help?

13. Boy do I ever concur with you!
Everytime I get to go to Crawford, I get to see the movement. The people. Oh I absolutely loved meeting and shaking hands with Cindy. But its the every day people like most of us that makes it an INCREDIBLE experience, and Im bummed if I cant make it. Everytime I go, I meet a handful more people who tell me what this means to them. When I struggled to understand the man Tues. night from Vietnam,(who is from Lorena, TX now, from what I could understand) it was interesting to try to get the gyst of what it all meant to him. I wish I could have understood him better, but his English was a helluva lot better than my Vietnamese~!

Meeting an old farmer from Alabama. Or the mom I shared a ride with who brought her grown daughter, from Colorado. Even sharing a ride with some folks with a lil different agenda, namely a Communist ideology. Or Tamaraa, who just cant see her husband going there, or the kid(ok, twenty something)who showed up to cook for the Peace House. The YOUNG people there who volunteer all of their time. just WOW~!

Meeting and listening to the loved ones of soldiers yesterday, and the story from a nurse..oh GOD it was so sad..she went to Iraq volunteering her expertise, and we all cried when she told us about the pregnant Iraqi woman who had already had one arm amputated and the other one would be removed because of bombing, and 'how she would never be able to hold her precious baby in her arms." Hearing my own daughter stand up and cry as she told all the women sitting how she is so close to her cousins and doesnt want them to have to go back to Iraq. I had never seen her so upset, and it was a good outlet for her. A lot of emotion, but talking is healing, and the end result is helping whatever way we can to put a STOP to the madness in Iraq.

I want to see it end a whole lot sooner than Vietnam. Its senseless and just WRONG. And I love that everyone who understands this is really DOING something about it! I say we keep it up for as long as it takes.

6. it is allowing questioing and discontent of war. this allows people
to be receptive to dsm and plame gate. being unhappy with bush, and then hearing dsm and plame and election fraud is going to allow people to be more willing to look at facts, instead of putting hands to ears, making noise not to hear

this is a GOOD thing

14. Exactly, so are rising gas prices. Agree things are crappy, give info
When people complain, hit them with DSM and Plame and voter fraud. People are becoming more receptive to hearing what we have to say. Listen, agree with them, then give information for them to think about. DON'T RAVE, just give them 1 or 2 or several points, agree again and leave it unless they want to continue.

19. My daughter and myself are much like you
very outspoken and when we see injustice, we speak. But then there are the ones like my Mom, too afraid to rattle the cage, don't draw attention to yourself and never put yourself on the line for strangers...but wow, when she has had enough, she was ruthless.

What Cindy did, was the same as I have pointed out before as when the complacent people in the 60's saw their kids get the shit knocked out of them at the 68 Convention in Chicago on TV, they couldn't believe it was our country, our police beating up our kids, for nothing other than speaking up...They saw Kent State, many of them wanted to believe the governments reasoning (that the students were throwing stones at the Guard so they felt their lives threaten) but in the back of their minds they knew there was no good reason for it....

My only concern is that it started so late in the summer, it could have had more momentum if it had started earlier, but I'll take this...

7. limited attention spans?
Edited on Fri Aug-19-05 01:30 PM by evil eggplant
Is it that Americans have such limited attention spans that we are fed one story at a time, ad nauseum?

I don't know about you guys, but I can walk, talk and chew gum at the same time.

I can stay current with Crawford, Traitorgate, and a whole bunch of other stuff simultaneously.

Traitorgate is buried in the background noise right now. Taft pleaded "no contest", but he plans on keeping his job?

What the fuck?

What is happening in Crawford is very meaningful, but so is fighting for justice in Ohio. So is fighting for justice for Valerie Plame.

Our support of Cindy should not preoccupy us to the point where we lose sight of the big picture.

This isn't overshadowing the corruption of this Admin it's setting a climate for the public to be receptive of that corruption.

12. We have needed a "face" to rally around, we are ruled by emotions
Although we like to think of ourselves as rational creatures, truth is that (most) are ruled by their emotions, being backed up by their intellect. I am including myself here. I follow what is going on, but what really gets me involved is when my emotions get stimulated. Cindy has done that for a lot of people. As a normal, ordinary grieving mother, representing herself, she has become a face to rally around. Other individuals and groups are coming together because of her. Yes groups are now backing her, but it started, and is continuing, because so many of us individuals have been touched, are asking "why?" and holding Mr.bush accountable for his lies.

Gas prices going up coinciding with Camp Casey are bringing many people around and things are happening.

Congress comes back into session soon. Hold their feet to the flames of accountability. Things move slowly, but they are moving.

Peace

18. DSM, Plame, and Camp Casey are parts of the SAME STORY...
...that story being the disastrous invasion and occupation of Iraq based on falsified evidence.

* The DSM establishes that the bush administration planned to go into Iraq from early on and was willing to alter evidence to make its case

* The outing of Valerie Plame's operation shows that they were willing to compromise national security to get revenge on anyone who stood in their way

* Camp Casey is the result of a grieving mother who knows full well that her son died for bush's murderous lies and refuses to sit down or shut up

These are threads intertwined, not separable distinct events. If the corporate media ever dares to cover them as such, bush will have a very uncomfortable second term.
