5. After Dean
I think after Dean Hackett would be good. He ran a very well and organized campaign and knows how to do that it seems. And he can probably still work with DFA like Dean.

19. But we need people LIKE Hackett, and Hackett himself, in the Democratic
party, or whatever party will provide resistance.

We NEED people who will call a spade a drug-addicted, pill popping chickenhawk spade.

We're certainly not hearing it from the Kerrys and the Hilarys. Not saying that we necessarily NEED to hear it from the prominent national candidates but I don't think it's all that wrong either. We need to hear this more, and not only from "The Daily Show" and Air America.

20. The Voice of a New Generation
His plain speaking is so refreshing. I am so tired of hearing the way traditional politicians talk. Just today, I heard NM gov. Bill Richardson on NPR. He's a good guy, I guess, but *boring*. Sorry, Bill. We need a little more edge for our new crop of Thug slayers.

Edited on Fri Aug-19-05 11:30 PM by BullGooseLoony
I love me some Paul Hackett, but if you think he deserves Dean's position more than Dean himself, you're crazy.

Besides, he OWNS Dewine's seat, and we DESPERATELY need it.

This is a man who took part in the Fallujah massacre and then told the Iraqis returning to Fallujah to keep their American issued IDs as a memento on their walls!!

This is a man who wants the Iraq killing to go on and on with no exit strategy.

This is a man who says that if the US forces leave Iraq there would be chaos. What is there now? God's gift of peace and love to the Iraqis?

This is the man who talks about religious fanatics but failed to say anything about the Christian pastor and the prayers by the American troops before attacking Fallujah. Who were the religious fanatics?

I have posted on this several times in this forum with exact quotes from Hackett.

Or go to http://www.dailykos.com/comments/2005/8/3/235349/3382/72#72 my diary at DailyKos. Here is an extract:

"After I had been in Iraq for two months I volunteered again--this time to go to Fallujah. Religious fanatics and insurgents had seized the city. They had to be stopped. A civil government had to be restored."

Only a brain-washed Marine would make such a statement which ignores the reality that it is the presence of the Americans in Iraq that IS the problem:...more....

As Mike Malloy said so explicitly on his programme today (my interpretation of his views), it is the smart talking Republican-apologist Obama / Hackett-type Democrat that has thrown the Democratic party down the toilet as it now consists primarily of Republican-lites who refuse to see that America has LOST the Iraq Invasion and Occupation!!...more....

Certainly Hackett may be better than a Republican, but he is not political material of any sort whatsoever other than the American habit of having someone who looks and sounds good on TV!!

Are you guys just going to continue this rubbish of promoting a Kerry-lite Bush apologist? Just because he called Bush a chickenhawk does not promote him as being a great Democrat candidate for anything!!

uniform to "out military" the GOP they will accept them without scrutinizing their views on things. I am glad there are voices of reason who point out that 'the emperor has no clothes" during these cult of personality lovefests that go on here.

40. The DLC's prioirities ARE in order -- they're doing EXACTLY what they
were formed to do. Exactly. The only hope the Democratic Party has vis a vis the DLC is if the DLC continues to crash and burn. Unfortunately, they recently resurrected themselves (at least slightly) and made Hillary the head of something that sounded real good but is just a veneer of respectability. I forget what they're calling it, but she's going to go around the country asking people what they want -- which will mean and amount to NOTHING. The DLC could care LESS what people want; they could care less about people. It's all just show.

No, the DLC has its priorities quite in order, thank you very little, and you can be sure they exclude us. By design.

against Mike Dewine (43% approval rating) in 06. Perhaps Ohio will share him for a presidential ticket in '08!
