Maher thinks that Bush SHOULD NOT meet with Cindy Sheehan.
He's got to stay focused on his job (like Rudy Giuliani), according to Bill.

9. I agree. Who the f*ck invited Chris Rock?
Edited on Fri Aug-19-05 11:09 PM by BattyDem
:grr:

Yes, he did nail blondie with a couple of good one-liners, but otherwise, he was useless. I felt like I was watching "Meet the Neo-Cons" and Bill was completely on his own!

I should have turned it off after Paul Hackett.

On edit: Someone else just posted that Rock also pointed out how it's the minorities who fight the wars. So maybe he wasn't totally useless ... my bad. But it would have been nice if our side had some better representation tonight.

after that, I was ready to kill him! Maybe I'm just in a mood.

On edit: I wish the comedians would do a little homework before coming on the show and direct their jokes toward the topic at hand instead of sticking with a bit. Rock was not prepared for a real political discussion and it's a shame, because if he was, he REALLY could have done some damage!

19. Thank god for Chris Rock, who somehow managed to be
Both the only minority as a black person and the only minority who thought that most people could not afford extended vacations. How he sat there with Asa and Hooker and on top of that that old psycho and did not take his mug and smack them all up and down the show is beyond me...he held it together... the show sucked because Maher invited on shills, hookers, and criminals. Simple.

57. Maher
Maher used to support the war. In previous seasons, he always said he didn't agree with the war in the beginning and he didn't like the way they lied to get us there but he also pointed to some positive things about the war.

I never agreed with that opinion and many liberals who came on his show also did not agree.

I'm glad to hear he's starting to re-think that position.

He vowed to unite the People.....he vowed to bring back integrity and openness to the WhiteHouse, etc., etc., etc., etc.

He did not keep his commitment and Oath to TANG during Viet Nam and he has certainly not kept his Oath as POTUS nor the promises he made to the voters.

Georgie's only job has been to play the puppet for those Puppet Masters such as Cheney and the corporate War Profiteers. Georgie is incapable of leading anything not even his little photo-op Scottie which he continually drops on his head.

Also, what's great about this sheehan thing is Bush can't meet with her, Maher is right. If he meets with her, what can he tell her? NOTHING! He is not going to admit what we know, he would continue the blowhard crap and the media would say, see the compassionate president met with the greaving mother.

I saw it really early in the morning though and wasn't able to stay awake for the ending. I'll have to catch it again. I also bought his book "New Rules" and am looking forward to it. Sometimes the show is good and other times it's eh. But I like how he gives everybody a chance to talk and debate with. Not like the rightwing shows. But he's pretty fair and balanced.

She would no doubt ask her 'what noble cause' question, and list the administration's lies. No one seemed abreast of details, so it was left hanging.
I have little doubt she could have made a case to sway him.

I think he knows it was't a good show -not any fault of his IMO.
Chris Rock was disappointing. The RW Coulter knock-off was a lie machine.

political debate...Kellyanne (repug pollster) was trying desperately to be cute and win over the crowd, (man, has cutie-pie aged in two years, she'll look like Philis Scafaly in two more) and Maher let her go on far too long without jumping in because he had no one there to help out...he was on his own...

But I was really shocked that Maher really had no support from Rock...who must be enjoying his wealth...Rock used to be so well informed!!! I recall how astute & aware another black comedian D.L Hughley, who was on Maher's show twice last year and Hughley had his shit down, man...He knew the issues of the day and wouldn't take any shit...very feeble performance by Rock, certainly not because he's black, but because he was NOT up on the issues!!!

The republican man idiot made no impact what so ever, either way...Maher had to carry the whole liberal load himself...and he made the points well when he talked about a one party system in power..."Where in the fuck is the opposition"?(Meaning of course), the Democrat's!

Who would have guessed?

Not one of Maher's great shows by any means, but it held up interestingly and kept the interest, simply because of Maher.

West Coast check in -- with your thoughts.....

When I heard Maher's monologue, I thought the show was going to die... but, Maher, stayed with it and somehow pulled it off!

Check out the reruns on HBO all week long and judge it for yourself.

The Coulter Doppleganger asked why they weren't there, and yet she would be the first to say, if they did go to Camp Casey, that they were politicizing this. And I don't want this politicized in the least. Damned if you do and damned if you don't.

In my eyes, this is not a partisan issue, it is an issue of the Truth, and there were plenty on our side of the aisle and still are that seem to be making a conscious effort of not letting the Truth Will Out.

Then, on the other hand, I would love to see someone like my adored Barbara Boxer come for a visit, as she was outspoken and knew that it was a war based on lies from the get go.

is pretty popular around there. He's polling a lot better than Asa, but, of course, the repukes own the machines....so anything could happen. They still owe Asa, big time, for all his tricks on their behalf. But, Beebe, his opponent, is much more well-liked on a personal basis, by the locals. Asa just has the neocon money behind him.

Edited to add: Beebe is running against Asa in the primaries...

58. I thought that is what I heard and I thought there must have been
something wrong with my hearing. This is outrageous.

Total silence from the chatty barbie doll, she is so opinionayed about every fucking thing else. Then when forced to say something, it was to say well it's a hard crime to prove!

I wishh Mahrer would have gone after them more on that one.
I loved the "what ass did you pull that one out of line.

66. I like Bill Maher, but don't forget
he's a libertarian, and they have a distinct ideology. Someone told me that they are like Republicans that smoke pot, but he has come back really po'd at BushCo. I kinda let some of his stuff slide since he does such a great job slamming and making fun of Bush most of the time.

Lance, Little Leaguers, field hockey teams, football players, baseball players et al.

Servicemen and women and their families need not apply.
