"Americans want to know that their president leads a balanced life."
So said George W Bush.

He also said he "needs to get on with his life"... As if something is keeping him from enjoying his life? What would a parent that lost a child in his unnecessary war in Iraq think of that remark? He wants to get on with his life but their children will never have a life to get on with. It was so insensitive and unsympathetic as to be unreal. How could anyone say such a thing?

As Eleanor Clift noted, people don't want to know if their president leads a balanced life....they only want to know that their president is balanced.

I expect my President NOT to live a balanced life for the duration of his term(s). Presidentin' is hard work so get to it. You'll have plenty of time to ride your bike in 2009.

10. Don't you first have to be "balanced," to be able to lead a balanced life?
One only has to listen and watch George W. to know that something is not quite right within his world.

It is amazing that so many of the CON lemmings will not even actually look or listen to what George W. Bush says and does and comprehend that there is something seriously wrong with this man.....I don't know if it is his past cocaine/alcohol use or simply that he has a genetic mental problem but there is definitly something wrong with this man.

Many Republicans with integrity are beginning to acknowledge that this is not the Party of their ancestors but a group of power hungry individuals....CON's...who have hi-jacked them and are using them to gain Power and control of our democracy.

The CON's are being supported by the ignorant and the lazy.

4. I dont want him to lead a balanced life...
I want him to fucking do his job. How many people in this country get 5+ weeks of vacation a year? Top managers and CEOs of corporations dont even take that kind of time off and their job isnt nearly as important.

16. Uh, I get four weeks...
But, then again, I have to burn MY vacation days when the boss takes off---not when I'd like to take off - He goes to seminars in nice warm places in Jan/Feb and writes it off and I make 43% less take home now than what I made 10 years ago when I started there. Geesh, if I'd go for the long haul all at one time, I'd either have no job when I got back or one H.. of a backlog. Ah, the rewards of working for famous workaholics. At least, our ambivalent office manager/scheduler has just followed through w/our single yearly (per policy manual)lab coat/scrub smock this third year--seems we were starting to look a little threadbare, an true embarrassment to the beautiful people we serve.

I've come to the conclusion that under this crew, no one can lead a BALANCED life. One either has no time to enjoy life, or when time is available, there's no money with which to pursue leisure.

I certainly feel *'s pain - there's just never enough time to go anywhere where they'll throw roses at me cause nobody likes me and my staff says they're out to get me and then there's those everpresent weeds and brush on my personal property to clear. It's just so neverending.... It's hard, hard work being a world leader with nowhere to go and ever without enough oil/opium/coke dollars to really rock 'n roll. Pass the Chivas Regal please while I throw a hissy, tell a few WHOPPERS, and steal some black gold/pods/leaf sap from another soverign country's till. Just where the hell is James Dean when yah need him!

7. When Bush was first elected...
... the press kept describing him as the first "CEO president." Well, he is, and he's showing the public what that life is like--lots of vacations to "keep sharp."

CEOs--and the president who represents them--are the laziest, most overpaid people on the planet. I hope that starts to sink in on the public... soon.

All that "balance" hasn't seemed to filter up to his mental state, so what good is it?

8. So if Cindy Sheehan got an HOUR of his time during his 5 WEEK vacation,
this would keep him from having a "balanced life" how?

I still see plenty of time for brush clearing, barbecues, and biking left over.

11. LOL. And eats a balanced breakfast, too, which would, of course,
include a bowl of Frosted Flakes.

Very, very important to the American people. Don't forget the OJ, Chimpy.

12. BS. I want him to work his ass off.
I want him to be a workoholic. There are few jobs where I want one person to be available 24/7, but POTUS is one of them. Don't like? Don't try to get elected.

I recognize the stress of that pace will be crushing. I'm willing to cut the guy some slack. 5 straight weeks of vacation? No. I want him working. But, and extra BJ or two, while making work related phone calls? I'm ok with that.

13. A Divine Emperor, yes. A President, no
Edited on Fri Aug-19-05 11:46 PM by chookie
I could not give a shit whether the President of the United States lives a balanced life. I would think it would be quite impossible. In fact, the job requires an extraordinary person, and most often it is inhabited by such. I bet even his PARENTS reeled when they heard this one, because this is an utterance of someone absolutely clueless in time of war and economic trouble

I decode this to mean that he HATES the work of being President, even though he loves the power to enrich his friends and family. He is too small and meaningless a man to inhabit the role of President -- if he's not up to it, the asshole should resign, and save us the bother of impeaching him.

The "balance" that he is talking about -- I suspect it has something to do with his alcoholism. I suspect a LOT of energy goes into getting through the tense day without a drink -- he's GOT to ride his dirtbike and wreck his face to stay sober. Barb and Poppy and Laura know all too well of how imprtant it is to keep George "balanced," as alcoholics wreck life around them

He's inherited his father's populist CLUELESSNESS. He just doesn't get it that actually there are lots of people in the world who work hard, and that unbalance in something FORCED on most working persons, and that We The People do not get pleasure watching our President live a FUCKING BALANCED LIFE when Americans are fucking DYING in Iraq, and destroying families, families who are STRUGGLING to make ends meet., whose lives have not only become "unbalanced", but utterly destroyed.

I hate the privileged little shit. I never have had any positive reaction to the man. He is utterly incompetent and venal. I want a competent, insightful man to lead our nation.

Although I think it is much worse, this is kinda in the category of Rick Santorum's failure to grasp that women work because they fucking well have to to struggle day to day. And Marie Antoinette's advise about what people should eat if they are unhappy.

I've been against this asshole all along, so none of this is new to me, but I suppose a lot of Americans never really gave him a lot of thought, but as we rapidly approach 2000 deaths in Iraq, the heartland is going to turn on the SOB.

Yes, Virginia -- the next milestone in this war is 2000 DEAD. FOR WHAT???? 2000 dead for, at best, a mistake, More likely -- 2000 dead for a LIE.

It's obvious from his actions that he has NO idea what Americans think or want.
