Want to read some good war propaganda..

As he passed through airports on the way to Des Moines, strangers were thanking him for his service.

"When I flew in to come home, people were cheering and clapping. It's a lot different now than it was in previous wars," Thede said.

Veterans returning home from Vietnam said they were spit on, insulted and occasionally physically assaulted when they appeared in public in uniform.

1. spitting on vets in Viet Nam is a myth
At least all the Viet Nam vets I know never recall anything like that happening.

4. I've never seen any real evidence that a vet was ever 'spit on' however
some compassionate freeper fuckface did spit tobacco juice in Jane Fonda's face.

That's not what I heard from a few vietnam vets. If it did happen just own up to the mistakes.

2. I saw a young Marine with his dad in Chicago earlier this week....
It appeared they were visitors to Chicago. The Marine was walking around downtown Chicago in his dress uniform. I didn't notice anyone going up to him and thanking him, and we followed him most of the way up Michigan Avenue.

My feelings toward him weren't negative (how could they be?) but I did find myself wondering if he was home on leave, or preparing to go over to George's Camp Hell Hole. He was so young. I said a little prayer for him that night.

3. I didn't get any reaction when I got home...
when I was in uniform in public. Neither positive or negative. Nobody really cares.
