Chip architecture question: Why decrease the nm's instead of just using

more processor cores ? I read that Intel continues to work on decreasing the nanometers of the wiring(?) in the strained silicon.

The new intel chips are dual core.

That being said, you can't use a dual core for all operations, they have to be special types of operations for it to be effective.

In addition, for every added core, you increase the overhead in managing multiple processors, their memory paths, etc.

3. Decreasing the width means less watts

less watts means less heat

AMD has both dual cores and the smallest widths today :)
