Missing pregnant woman that the media ignored--her body has been found

Guess we won't be hearing the standard "we want to thank the media for all their coverage in helping to solve this" from anyone on this sad case... since they've been too preoccupied covering missing white people and the BTK sentencing hearing.

Police said they believe remains recovered outside Philadelphia are those of a pregnant woman missing for a month, and a person was in custody in the case.

Inspector William Colarulo said Saturday that he could not confirm that the remains were those of 24-year-old LaToyia Figueroa, but investigators believed that to be the case.

Colarulo said the person in custody had not been arrested or charged. He said he could not comment on whether the person had any connection to the property where the remains were recovered.

Figueroa, who was five months' pregnant when she disappeared and already the mother of a young girl, was last seen on the afternoon of July 18 in West Philadelphia. Police received a missing persons report July 21, McClane said.

As for Greta, she was just leaving Aruba a few days ago to go to Philadelphia to cover this story. She is even now probably congratulating herself on the discovery of the body, breathing a sigh of relief, and hopping the next plane to Aruba so she can get back to a REALLY juicy story.

Joe Scarborough, in the meantime, is still trying to solve the honeymooning-man-overboard-on-cruise-ship mystery.

7. The ex-boyfriend is now in custody

I heard this on the local news (her story has been covered wall-to-wall in the Philly viewing area) and someone reported her ex had been seen taking a body out of a trunk and dumping it in Chester, PA.

I hope that evil bastard who murdered "his" woman gets treated like the vermin he is. I have no sympathy nor tolerance for abusive men; AFAIC, they're not even human beings--they're scum!!

9. There was a smattering of media attention when Latoyia disappeared

and yet it waned very quickly. Maybe if they gave her an anglo name and photoshopped her hair as blonde, they would have kept it up. I think the only reason why her disappearance did make it to MSM was because I believe some of her family are connected with the Philadephia Police Department. I also believe that's why there was such a concerted effort in Philly to find her.

I have the tv on all day, every day. I saw periodic updates on her case.

No, she didn't get anything near the coverage Natalee Hammond has gotten -- and it could CERTAINLY be argued that she and all other non-Natalee cases need much, much more, but it wasn't exactly a media blackout on Latoyia. I was in fact pleased to see the continuing coverage.
