Is he doing it on purpose? Of course he is. He's already did a photo op with the right-wing christian candidate. It's beginning to look like the Vatican with the help of the US fundies are trying to pull a coup in Western Europe. Another thing to take note of. There seems to be about a million catholic youths you have the money to show up when called to project one of those "FAKE YOUTH MOVEMENT" moments that we see in our universities and with the pro-life groups. OURS are being funded by the right we know. What about theirs? Some good reporter should ask the brats who's paying their travel expensives.
I put Pope Benedict and Opus Dei in google and got nothing. I thought he was afilated? Does anyone know?

5. Of course

They're all working together. Doesn't Bush have a personal relationship with this Pope? I thought I read about him and the new Pope there and how the new Pope came to be and Bush had some influence. I don't know why but I just get this strong sense that this guy wasn't supposed to be the Pope. I feel very neagtive vibes around him and it's quite scary. Maybe he's the antiChrist instead of George Bush.

7. I heard he gave the order to deny Kerry communion.
I can't remember where I heard it though. He messes with our election now he messing with theirs. It's an outrage!

11. He looks like Simon Bar Sinister...
Wants crucifixes in public buildings. Also petitioning * to indemnify him from a few lawsuits originating in the U.S.

There were 800,000 out in Marienfeld yesterday. That equals the population of this city. Actually met some fresh-faced, properly chaperoned Amis from Woodstock, N.Y. yesterday on my bike...

9. Thanks! If he isn't an official member of Opus Dei, he is a supporter.

(Matthew will be on Chris Matthews tonight at 7:30 PM 4/19/05)

Why should we be surprised that the current Catholic hierarchy, who elevated Cardinal Law the poster boy for pedophile clergy, to a special place of power in Rome, has just elected Cardinal Ratzinger as pope? The “Yes Men” of Pope John Paul II’s church have chosen one of their own who is guaranteed to play the Punitive Father.

Now we have the Inquisitor General of the 21st century, who led the assault on theologians and women, yoga (“dangerous” because it gets you too much in touch with your body), homosexuals (who are “evil”), liberation theology, ecumenism and interfaith, made “spiritual head” of 1.1 billion people.

Cardinal Ratzinger is living proof of the dictum coined by Catholic historian Lord Acton after the First Vatican Council’s declaration of papal infallibility when he said “Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.” Ratzinger, far from supporting movements of justice, has committed his career to silencing those who have and elevating the rich and powerful, such as Escriva, fascist sympathizer and founder of opus dei, to sainthood. It is a sad day and a decisive one for the Roman Catholic Church.
