Rush losing his audience (for some reason)

2. AAR!
I still can't believe that Rush Limbaugh is screaming about how the GOVERNMENT is harrassing SUV owners!!!! What a lying dipshit! The senate just SHOT DOWN a bit that required SUV's to have the same environmental standards as cars! The GOVERNMENT has subsidized the whole SUV industry with tax breaks! Government agencies area big market for SUVs! To portray SUV owners as "victims" is just ludicrous!

Plus, I still don't buy that he's the most listened to radio show in America, even with Howard Stern only on 40 cites, still, Stern's on FM mostly in most all big cities NY, LA, Chicago, DC, San Fran, Boston, Philly, Detroit, Seattle, Portland, West Palm, Orlando, Tampa, Phoenix, San Deigo, Baltimore, Cleveland, etc. AND morning drive han WAY more people listen to radio-stuck in cars! (Or, SUVs?) Middays are ok for listeners to radio, but NOTHING compared to mornings and afternoon drive 3-7p!

Tax breaks to SUVs, and pennies to fund alternative energy (solar, wind, ethanol, hell if my car ran on PISS, I wouldn't care!) and we wonder why we're stuck sucking OPEC arab oil dick!

Ironically, the best cars milage on new cars was in 1986...WHO WAS PRESIDENT THEN?! You'd think oxyRUSH would mention this 900 times, instead of the GOP talking points memo on how "anti-American" Cindy Sheehan is!!!!!!!!!!!

Tell a fiend to listen to Randi Rhodes (and all of Air America!),

7. Believe it
Rush has always depended in large part on distortion or outright lies for material. And he doesn't know how to shift even when a significant segment of his audience starts to think for themselves.

17. The really sad part of this is apparent to those that heard Rush in 1985
I was baling hay one day when WGST680 in Atlanta announced that they were putting a new host on. Rush signed on and proceeded to KILL the competition with his"Illustrating the absurd buy being absurb".He was GREAT in those days. When he met Haley Barber(RNC head) he changed for the worst.TOO BAD. He could have been a uniter rather than a divider.

19. Was that maybe 1995?
Rush was stil doing a local 'Talk' show at KFBK in Sacramento, California in 1985. He was in Sacramento for four year (1984-88) till he landed the New York gig in 1988 and became syndicated nationally within a month.

Almost all the AM comes in with Rush and some 'Christian' talk show that is all Bush. What is it with AM any how? Air Am. is one bad station to pull in, it is so un-clear but I do keep it on in the car. Home I get it on PC.

9. Franken's ratings are up
Crackhead's ratings are down. All in the same market. Actually, this has been happening all over. When all you have is lies and filth on the air with no truth to balance it out, then yeah, Limpballs is likely to do well. But when it's counterbalanced, well, Rush is in trouble.

10. How much of this can be chalked up to election year vs. post election?
Unfortunately there was no Air America or Talk Left last year to compare.

As for the photo: "You must be taller than Boo Boo to run this country."

11. Makes total sense to me
Outrageous verbal attacks by Rush were initially viewed as ENTERTAINMENT........and Rush got it wrong when he began to beleive his own nauseating compendium of vile crapola. The GOP have been in power for over 5 years now - all three branches........hard to claim being a poor victim when your guys control everything. And it is hard to swallow as entertainment while US soldiers bleed and die in Iraq.

He is on his way out - and he will fall with a whimper into the depths of nobodysville. His rantings are irrelevant.

15. Pretty close to what I think
He's stopped being entertaining. It's like listening to the same joke over and over and over. It loses its punch after awhile. He's not funny anymore (not that I ever thought he was but I do know liberals who listened to him because they thought his rants were amusing).

Rush is a one trick pony. The trick got old. The pony got old. It will be interesting to see if this trend continues in other parts of the country.

16. Recently saw my brother's RW friend who said
that listening to Rush wasn't important anymore because they won the election. He said that Rush is boring now because all the excitement surrounding the election was over, they had won and there were no issues worth discussing anymore.

I believe that is one of the main reasons his numbers are slipping. There is nothing he can say that will excite them before the beginning of next years election cycle ... maybe not even then. This friend did not seem the least bit concerned nor interested in the mid-term elections at all.

... either the White House or Congress.

Then his drug-induced rants will have a target, and the sheep will feel threatened enough to listen.

Who would want to be the next poor sumbitch to "win" the presidency?

You know, there's an old joke about a Repub having sex... something about not much happening DURING, but a lot of talk about how great it WAS and how good it's gonna be NEXT time.

smear current threats, tells me where/why their sweating currrent events because after-all, that is they're main purpose for being there.

As soon as Fitz (hopefully) hands down indictments the Limbaugh Hannity machine will swing into high-gear with their opinionated version of the news to keep the repukes faithful and organized?
