Offering more details about his government's oil industry development program, Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez Frias has announced the Petroleum Seed Plan 2005-2030.
There are to be 6 projects of which the Orinoco Project takes precedence.
Speaking during a ceremony to announce Petroleos de Venezuela (PDVSA) strategic plans, Chavez Frias says there will be 4 oil fields in the Orinoco Belt named respectively: Boyaca, Junin, Ayacucho and Carabobo.
Energy & Mines (MEM) Minister Rafael Ramirez has been entrusted with the task of setting the bases for building a new city on the northern banks of the Orinoco.
PDVSA will embark on a so-called endogenous development plan run by State natural gas company, Deltacaribe and gas will be industrialized in a plant on the Paria Peninsular (Sucre).
As previously announced, the new refineries to be built in Venezuela will be situated in Barinas, Bolivar and Monagas. However, there still seems to be some confusion as regards one of the sites which is down originally as being built in Guarico.
Another refinery will be constructed in North-East Brazil's Pernambuco State, following government policy to diversify oil industry supplies from the North to South America.
