5. No, nothing drug induced, we got robbed today and had a weird visiter that
was very overbearing and loud.

I have another thread on it, but I just need good vibes to feel better about the who situation today.

18. No way, I'll go to church tomorrow, black church rules!
I am very committed to getting people involved with our democratic party, I talked to my brother who was in the same grade and he said that it could go either way with this guy, so that bothers me.

But I am hoping for the best.

Still kinda feels like he is casing the place though, he knocked I opened the door and he walked right on in. My space was invaded, I don't know how to deal.

24. BINGO-
See my other post on this thread.
WHO was this guy?
I think he was casing your place too.
Inviting you to church was his way
of getting you out of the house
so that his friend can clean you out.
DO NOT leave your house without someone
watching over it.
And DO NOT allow strangers to
come inside!
YOu should have asked him to step outside
immediately if he wanted to talk.

25. Can I get a witness?
I'm with KitchenWitch. Sounds like you may be freakin out cuz your gut is tellin you different than what you're tellin us.

The description of this guy's behavior is sending red flags.

How did he know about the break-in?
His manner disturbed you-- why are you trusting him?
He barged in your house, you're space was invaded.
He sounds like he's out of it.

The way to deal is listen to your true sense of it. You're not obligated to give this guy the benefit of the doubt.

16. ((((((( hug ))))))))))
Calm down and take some deep, cleansing breaths. In through your nose, out through your slightly parted lips. Close your eyes and breath, focus on your breaths as you inhale and exhale. Slow, steady deep breaths, each breath a little deeper.

 Just remember to breath!

Here's a house you're thinking of buying (big decision, stressful in itself) that you suddenly don't feel safe in (extra compounded stress).

Damn. Now I need an Advil.

20. it sounds like you had a pretty stressful day ...
Edited on Sun Aug-21-05 01:49 AM by Lisa
A robbery AND an unwelcome visitor -- kind of like the proverbial "adding insult to injury". If it's any consolation, a bunch of people I know had a weird time today too. I just finished talking with a co-worker who's freaking out over a job interview. And another friend has decided to quit at work because he's still suffering the afteraffects of a home invasion. (This happened when he was working in Africa, a couple of months ago, and the intruders had semiautomatic weapons -- luckily he and his wife weren't hurt, but it was pretty scary.) And my landlady panicked this morning when she thought the dog (a new puppy, she's only had him for a week) had run off and gotten lost.

As my mom likes to say in these situations, "Tomorrow's another day."

(I always reply, "that sounds like a threat, to me".)

21. BE CAREFUL-
Edited on Sun Aug-21-05 01:51 AM by BeHereNow
If you decide to go to church- DO NOT
leave your house unattended!

For all you know, this guy who you should NOT have
let in your place at all, could have been checking out
what you might have worth stealing.
The ploy goes like this-

Stranger appears claiming to have helpful
knowledge/information about your robbery,
do-gooder who wants to help and all.
You go to church and while your at church
his buddy is now cleaning out your TV, stereo, etc...

WHY did you let him in?
Do you know him?

Sorry, but so far this story is VERY suspect.
IF he had information, why didn't he
just go to the police?
Why invade your space?

Methinks he was casing the joint.

33. Okay- NO question about it.
He was casing your house for a break in.
The church invitation was to try to get you
out of the house for the robbery.
No doubt about it in my mind.
Get a dog.
A LOUD turf protective dog.
I have one and sleep like a baby.
If I leave the house for short durations
I can leave my house unlocked with that dog.
I would PITY the fool who tried to come in
my house with that dog on duty.

35. i would call the police back and tell them
specifically what happened and that you request a patrol around your house tonight and tomorrow.

(my local dealings with police were exhausting--i had to do most of the detective work and ride their butts with phone calls and visits into the station--i can't imagine them setting up a "sting" as beherenow suggests, although it would be the perfect thing to do)

give them a description of the guy so they can get an idea of who to look for--

couldn't this guy be the one who took the stereo? how did he say he even knew about it being stolen? was he just "walking by" and happened to see someone break into your car?

40. when did all this happen?
when was the stereo taken when you first noticed?

when did the "preacher" (minister or whatever) show up? (how long after you knew the stereo was gone?)

was this in the morning? afternoon? evening? just happen?

and when was the last time you called the police station?

41. you might want to call them back tonight--
tell them you've been thinking about this and you want a patrol by the house. and you need a patrol in the area tomorrow. and then call them in the morning and remind them--you can say you wondered if they found anyone and then remind them to cruise the neighborhood around the time you were going to leave the house.

and don't leave the house.

have you talked to your neighbors? ask them if they saw this guy--or saw anything "suspicious".

maybe call your neighbors in the morning and tell them and have them keep a look-out too.

31. Ask the cops if they are willing to wait for the robbery
Did you tell the cops what happened with this guy and
the 'invitation' to go to church?
Sounds to me like if you went to church
with the cops waiting in your house while
you were gone, they'd catch some robbers for SURE.

I'd be fairly certain the robbery team will be
watching to see if you leave in the morning
to go to church...if I was your local cop, I'd
have you leave in plain sight and be waiting
in your house for the break in.
