Media cowards running with tails between legs from Sheehan coverage

Posted by wellstone dem:

MSNBC: "Patriotic camp springs up to counter peace mom's anti-war demonstration near president's ranch"
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=104&topic_id=4412585&mesg_id=4412585

So their camp is "patriotic," ours is just "anti-war."

And posted by zippy890, re. "Face the Nation" today:

"who is Mike Allen - of WAPO - covering Cindy Sheehan & Camp Casey. He just said that Camp Casey was now a 'Circ Du Soleil' with a 5 point tent and catered meals consisteing of PETA, hippies and some other derogatory remark.

Who the F*** is he spewing this crap & why is being passed off as as a credible journalist?

He also said something like Cyndy has been largely discredited because of statement she has made.

I am roaring mad, no counter view was given ,and he didn't even show any pictures or do any interviews to back up his very biased and negative report.

going top get the transcripts later- we need to refute this guy, send e-mails -"

(If the Right had set up an impressive facility it would be lauded as an example of their political power and prowess.)

I'm sure there are many more examples of the media's retreat from giving Cindy a fair hearing. She's joined the list someone posted a few days ago of the fine people savaged by Rove and a compliant media.
:argh:

ON EDIT: Adding a post from TwoSparkles from the Activist forum:

"The BushCo thugs are sooo predictable. They're running their usual plays.

The media was doing a good job of covering Cindy and the protests. I would say the coverage was fair and favorable, for the most part.

We all know that Rove strongarms the media. He lets them know when he's displeased and when they need to stop covering stories, or tone it down.

I'm assuming that Cindy's positive coverage was getting to all of them. They stepped in and issued warnings. Now we're seeing some of the media cave and cater to BushCo/RoveCo.

Just my opinion, but we're at a crossroads. The story is dead unless we can breath some 'newsworthy' life into it--forcing the media to cover it. The news value of the story must exceed Karl's threats.

With that said, I'm about ready to puke. I can't take what these thugs have done to this country--and more importantly--I can't understand how they get away with it.

I have a degree in journalism and I can tell you that if Karl Rove ever called me to tell me how to do my job--I'd tell him to fark off. How is it that a stay-at-home mom like myself, have more backbone than the big, bad CNBC journalists?

God help us. Seriously."

1. I think we know that Bush will do a "cut and run" in Iraq
simply by the effort put into attacking the anti-war movement.

It deflects the blame away from them with their base....see? it wasn't Bush who cut and run....it was the protesters forcing him to (so it's their fault)

They won't blame policy... to illegally invade for lies and to "cut and run"....they'll blame Cindy Sheehan and everyone else opposed to the war.

Same tactic used in Vietnam.

The war IS unpopular and it grows more and more unpopular with each passing day....but people are coming to this conclusion in their own way and for their own reasons....but if you can blame the protesters, then government is without fault for bad policy.

The anti-war movement gives people a chance to voice concerns they ALREADY have....it didn't plant those concerns. But that's not how the spin goes...

4. The buzzword now seems to be "hippies" -- on with Wolf Blitzer...
Edited on Sun Aug-21-05 11:49 AM by DeepModem Mom
the Repub used this word to characterize about all of Cindy's supporters who haven't lost children in Iraq. That word must have been emphasized in the mandated talking points Rove and the RNC fax out each day.
