Armed Freeper uses gun to intimidate loud restaurant patrons!
I grew up with guns and I own guns as an adult. Many gun owners are responsible people, but some, like this guy, mistake a firearm for a prosthetic penis.

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1467641/posts

"Never, ever leave home without it." No, not your American Express card, your sidearm.

This morning, I woke up about 4:15 and was hungry, so I decided to drive to the local 24-hour beanery. The only other customers were a table of 10, intoxicated 20-somethings making alot of noise.

There were 7 muscular young men and three loud-mouthed young women. After listening to their raucous laughter for 10 minutes, I politely asked the waitress to ask them to hold down the noise. All I wanted to do was eat my breakfast in relative peace.

Her request for quiet lasted about 45 seconds, then the noise and laughter resumed. At that point, I decided to do something.

Bear in mind that I am not an imposing figure. I'm 5'9", mid 50's, and slim. I walked over to the table, and walked completely around it twice. I said, "I'd like y'all to hold down the noise for a while, please." One of the young men started to give me trash-talk but within seconds was elbowed by the guy next to him, who whispered something in his ear. Then everyone at the table said, "Yes, sir, or OK."

What made the difference? Open carry. I was wearing a 9mm semi-auto on my right hip. I never touched it and I made no threats, but it was nevertheless visible.

There's some really long winded drivel about being a Veteran (apparently, he missed a few group sessions down at the VA). Amusingly, at the end, there is this text:

I've got a gun and my rights trump yours. I suppose if the 7 muscular guys (an odd descripter, I think) had guns, Mr. FR Asshole would have STFU.

And who uses beannery to describe a restaurant? Probably a fantasy he had while stroking his squirtgun.

..."I got a gun, and it ain't teeny, makes up for my little weenie"

BTW, there was a pawn shop owner here in San Diego who loved to walk around his shop with all his guns hanging off of him, like he was Clint Eastwood, giving him a false sense of security.

It didn't stop him from getting robbed and beaten half to death by a career criminal...

This ought to be fun; the RKBA is based on the principle of self-defense. A public place, no threat of physical safety, no one breaking the law - just a person annoyed by loud noise. One can imagine that he could be arrested for threatening other customers.

11. WTF is a "beanery"?
I would assume a racist term for a Mexican restaurant. Wonderful.

I was surprised most of the other posters disapproved.

Now I have to sanitize my computer after taking it into that cesspool.

I've heard of Gloria Jean's, but I missed the "beanery" part. Are they open 24 hours and/or do they serve breakfast?

On the other hand, I've heard the term "beaner" (and been called it) many times. Would I be shocked if a freeper referred to a Mexican restaurant as a "beanery"? Not at all.

isn't a coffee shop, they just sell coffee for you to brew at home. But I wouldn't be surprised if regular 'ol coffee shops use that name.

OTOH, I also wouldn't be surprised if a Freep used "beanery" in the way you described. I won't jump to conclusions though and I'll assume it was just a coffee shop.I haven't seen too many 24 hour Mexican restaurants, unfortunately :)

Maybe they were sober but loud? Does them being drunk mean it's ok to harass them? Is it like this: drunk + loud = shoot 'em, sober + loud = hold fire?

Geez. At least most of those people aren't supporting the original asshole.

39. Beanery used in an old song.
Mountain Greenery

(Richard Rodgers / Lorentz Hart)
From The Garrick Gaities (1925).

In our mountain greenery
Where God paints the scenery
Just three crazy people together.
Ooo, while you love your lover
Let blue skies be your coverlet
When it rains we'll laugh at the weather.

And if you're good
I'll search for wood
So you can cook
While I stand a-looking.

Ooo, beans could get no
keener reception in a beanery
Bless our mountain greenery home.

In the mountain greenery
(Where God) Where God paints the scenery
(Just us three) Just three crazy people together
(How) How we love sequestering
(Where no) Where no pests are pestering
(Pestering) No man holds us in a tether.

Mosquitoes here won't bite your ear
I'll let them sting me on my finger

We could find no cleaner retreat from life's machinery
Than our mountain greenery with its mountain scenery
Bless our montain greenery home

34. Not in rural areas. They are family restaurants specializing in "simple",
"All American" fare and/or "country" cooking.

Originally, beaneries specialized in baked beans, white beans, etc. which is how the name originated. A good example is The Bean Pot in Crossville, TN. which inspired Cracker Barrel restaurants.
http://tinyurl.com/b72xm

Many of them specialize in various types of "Country Breakfast".

29. When I was small, I lived in a little bitty railroad town.
They had a beanery. Everyone just referred to it as the beanery. The people who ran it lived in the back. It was open all the time, because the railroad crews came in at odd hours. The meals were really home-cooked and filling. I ate there with my dad a couple of times, and I just loved the place.

15. Some (unbelievably) sensible responses:
This ought to be fun; the RKBA is based on the principle of self-defense. A public place, no threat of physical safety, no one breaking the law - just a person annoyed by loud noise. One can imagine that he could be arrested for threatening other customers.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

I have had a CCW for about five years - and I have never "showed" to anyone.

What you did was wrong.

A bunch of drunk kids?

Leave them alone.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Joe, I would have left. The tone and deportment in the restaurant is the owner's business. He might prefer ten raucous twenty-somethings to one dyspeptic fifty-something.

These kids were probably drunk, drunks do stupid things. At least they have an excuse.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Then you should be prepared for a little noise and exuberance. It's not your place to enforce anti noise laws. Open and concealed carry are meant for self defense, not open intimidation if someone offends your sensibilities.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

think that was over the top. I don't believe the open carry laws were devised to enforce someone's version of good manners.

The threat was implied. What would you have done if they had continued to carry on? Shoot them? If not, what was the point?

P.S. I have a concealed carry permit
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

"All I wanted to do was eat my breakfast in relative peace."

Certainly the bakery would wrap your breakfast for take-out!

Using your rights to step on the rights of others - seems like you were the rude one.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

A weapon is used for self defense, not intimidating a bunch of drunk kids. What would you have done if one of them got in your face. What would you have done if they kept on talking. What if one of the idiots wanted to take a swing at you. In this case, you have become the aggressor. You would have killed somebodies kid,who for all you know is a good person, just a little drunk and trying to get some breakfast.

I am all for carry, either open or concealed. But, I believe that if you choose to carry, you have an extra responsibility to avoid confrontation.

Kids have a right to be stupid and survive. Heavens know that I didn't survive on my judgment alone when I was that age.

I think what you did was a mistake and if you had discharged your weapon, you have destroyed your own life.

They jump on him for claiming in his OP that the gun makes the difference.

They axed him what he would do if one of the men got in his face: "put 2 glazers in his skull" They jumped on him for that stupid reply

They asked him what he would do if the kids did not calm down: he said he would ask the waitress to call the cops. They pointed out the 10 kids would easily then get him busted.

36. Could've been arrested just for showing it.
As someone who had a permit in Florida, I'm familiar with CCW regulations.

Through this dumbass uses the words "open carry", to my knowledge every other state that has laws granting a citizen to right to carry a firearm also requires it to be concealed which means no one should be able to tell it's there. It does not mean you can "accidental" let others know you're armed in in effort to intimidate them as it sounds like this needle dick most likely did.

If it happened at all of course. Easy to be Billy-badass when there's no proof one's life was ever in danger to apply deadly force (which someone back-talking to you does not qualify) and your target audience is drooling gun-nut freepers.
