Did Trent Lott Just Let The Cat Out Of The Bag?

Watching Meet The Press just now, with Trent Lott on (to talk a bit about his new book, "Herding Cats"). Lott appeared to forget momentarily about one of the cats and admitted that he had "private conversations with George Bush", "going back to just after 9/11" in which Bush talked about Iraq in way that would indicate Bush was already (at that early date) planning his War On Iraq. Those watching MTP will have noticed how he appeared to realize what he was saying too late, and started the back-step.

We here know the truth of that period, but formal recognition of it from one of their own would finally give the lie (for others out there) to all of the protestations from Bush, et al., that he had sincerely pursued a peaceful resolution of the WMD issue with Saddam, that he had given the inspections time to work, etc.

If we don't write/yell/demand that the MSM pursue this with more questions to Lott about when, where, and how strongly he got the message that war was imminent, they will not even notice this little slip-up.

Let's go to work.

Last night, when I was Barnes and Noble, I saw a troglodyte shooting daggers at me as I was giving a civics lesson to a teenager. I raised my voice a little more and said, "Bush supporters are too cowardly to enlist for the war they support," etc. I watched his face turn red as I walked straight toward him and stared at him like, "go ahead, make my day." I noticed others smiling as I passed by. :)

I am now carrying a copy of enlistment papers wherever I go. ;)

Everytime I hear of soldiers being killed, my heart stops. Even though we have been lucky enough so far, I weep for those who haven't.

8. I think the Bush/Rove MO is to attack the

messenger and stonewall whatever the issue is. They totally ignore the issue.

It has worked up to now for many people, but not me.

I grew up in the segregated south and that was the technique used to maintain segregation. Anyone who presented facts that segregation was not a good thing was ridiculed. Anyone who appealed to a person's religious feelings was accused of being a communist or a communist sympathizer (Martin Luther King Jr.). Anyone who appealed to feelings of equality was accused of being promiscuous (all African Americans and most Jewish people and the few whites who were sympathetic to them).

Most people just learned to shut down their minds and go along with the "white power structure."

was Lott's mouth would say Yes, but his head would shake NO. Numerous times he was asked questions and he always gave a kiss up too Bush while his body language (shaking his head No)said he was against it.

I think that Lott is a revengeful man and still bitter enough about his dethroning to undermine Bush. Bushco always circles the wagons around members of the inner sanctum. So the fact that they let Lott twist in the wind, has got to be a pretty impossible pill for him to swallow.

He said that he was called on either the 11th or 12th by someone or ones in the administration to get him to help pin it on Iraq, since he was working for CNN at the time. If I recall, he backed away from the story a little, but not completely.

No, this isn't a dig at Clark, I think he just moderated his language a bit so it didn't sound like they were trying to stampede him to lie, but it would be interesting to know just how it went down. It would also be interesting to know who it was.

It's obvious as hell that Junior wanted to stomp Hussein for a long time before he got the biggest all-purpose excuse any little boy could ever want.

Taken together, though, these statements by O'Neill (which predates 9-11 by almost eight months) and others really point out the big lie, which is that he hadn't made up his mind to use the military no matter what. Circumstantial evidence works best when there is all sorts of it coming from numerous sources.
