I filled out the green sheet and when I got to the part about why I was leaving, I asked for another piece of paper and filled it up front and back. Some of the highlights were:

How I could not and would not work for a company that contributes to the Republican Party and does so with the sweat of a million under payed and under insured workers.

Inept management

low wages

Health Benefits

Lies that they portray about Unions, Made in America or Buy American at Wal-Mart

etc. etc.

I did offer some praise to a former dept. manager that I liked working for and for some others I worked with, but for the most part of that sheet, I put the blame on thier practices as a company.

The co-manager that did the "exit interview" aggreed with a few things I had said.

I dropped off my stuff and that was that. Ask me anything now and I will tell.

5. Unless it's the Barnes and Noble in Delaware...
that likes to evict customers that show dissenting opinions against Santorum.

Then they'll arrest you.

9. That was his security detail...
not the store staff.

Ive met quite a few senators in my life and except Kerry during the campaign none have needed security details except a scumbag like Santorum.

18. I worked at a B&N affiliate during an appearance by Sheriff Joe Arpaio.
Same thing happened; his deputies "evicted" a few people for "being a threat."

B&N management was pretty upset with it since the patrons (who were already there)were questioning him about tent city.

He even had (I still can't believe it) armed deputies ON THE ROOF.

27. Have we heard anything from management?
Edited on Sun Aug-21-05 02:35 PM by fudge stripe cookays
Someone said the other day that they had called and asked to speak to the manager about it and they were hung up on. If they don't distance themselves from the behavior, that means they support it.

And I want to know what the national spokesperson says. This is REALLY important, and they'd better realize what side their bread is buttered on.

Until I hear otherwise, that's it for B & N for me. Someone else hear said it best. IF you want to sell books, you don't support the people who burn them.

6. Did you have another job to go to or some plan?
Edited on Sun Aug-21-05 01:29 PM by eleny
Just wondering. Back in 1976, I had it with my employer and not only left the job I also left my home state. Seems like once I took charge in a political sort of way, things really worked out well. In fact, life got better and better even though I only had a skeleton sort of plan and little money on hand. I still love my home state of New York. But I think that it was a matter of taking charge of myself.

So, I'm wishing you the best of everything. Liberating yourself from an oppressive situation is one of the best things a person can do!

Edit: I see that you posted about your new job while I was writing my reply. Good luck and congrats!

8. Gee...according to the commercials Wal Mart puts on TV....
Wal Mart employees learn their basic moral precepts from the company, not to mention the fact that Wal Mart stands right beside you through the most critical illness!....How can you be so ungrateful?..:sarcasm:

15. That is BULLSHIT
If wal-mart had such great benefits then I wouldn't have had to partake in any of the "Associate in need fund drives" we had, and yes, customers at one point were brought into this mix.

23. Thanks. Let me tell you about the store I worked at
It's store #3206, Lima, OH.

This was one of the best stores in the region last year. Seriously. It was clean, well stocked and we price matched very competetively on everything. And we had no hours being cut most of the year except for right after christmas when we slowed down but it was almost alwasy very very very busy. This was one of the cleanest, well run stores I have ever seen in the wal-mart chain.

But then all of the good management we had left or were promoted. Then everything went downhill.

The store is now dirty, hours are cut even when we are busy, and quite a few of the managers suck ass. Customers have complained about the store recently and about hearing that associates hours are getting chopped and no one is there to help them like they used to. SO the store manager tells associates in the meetings to keep quite about this stuff because no one wants to know our troubles........ he got fired from another walmart for cooking books from what I was told and now he runs what used to be my store.

yes, my store. I built that store from the time it opened (2002) to just the other week (2005) and I took pride in what I did, but I noticed a sharp decline in the way the place was run and I couldn't be part of that any more. That company is going to go down soon like K-mart (rinks) did in the 70's.

... and I know from experience that those people are bastards and the company is a monster.

I think that the video that they show new trainees to scare them away from unionizing borders on slander.
