Why will Bush's planned pro-war media blitz make any difference?
He's a proved liar and has been shown to have lied most grievously about the Iraqi invasion. Why would the media allow themselves to be used again to prop up this lying scumbag-chicken-hawk? Why should anyone believe a proved liar? And linking 9/11 to Iraq as is planned is further perpetration of his lies.

1. Which one - the "Four speeches in two weeks" to bolster support?
er - like the six speeches more than a year ago- (five cancelled after the first was a bomb), or the six speeches this spring (five cancelled after the first one was a bomb)?

That won't help or hurt him - just keep the perception that he is floundering going.

Or do you mean the Pentagon "Freedom Walk" - the NYT editorial board was pretty scathing today about this effort - and the potential to be a disaster per bushco on several counts - first the linking of Iraq and 911 (symbolically by trying to do both in this one event) - while more and more of the public know there was no link, and is growing tired of the attempts to manipulate the public per alleged links; the next is the event itself - touted a memorial (think: somber) - but ending with a Clint Black fest (ala "I Raq and Roll") - is that really fitting for a memorial... or is it so jingoistic that many in the public will find it unseemly?

I think the freedom event will have a small net negative effect for Bush - the biggest negative being the naked attempts to try to regain public support for a war that has long lost its support, rather than trying to address the issues related to Iraq (what is our strategy), terrorism and national defense (where is osama, and what do we do about all those new terrorists?), let alone the economy and sky rocketing fuel costs.

2. Since he's preaching to the choir, I doubt if he is
changing anyone's mind who is against the war and thinks he's a liar.

3. I think there's an excellent chance
that it will have the same effect as his campaign to promote privatization of Social Security earlier this year. The more he talked, the less people liked the idea.

More speeches like the one he gave at the army college, by all means!

5. I hope the Dems (the real ones) are ready to refute most of his PR.
Let's have a fried chicken-hawk dinner.

4. It's his schtick. It's what he does. Repeat, repeat, repeat. Until
the sheeple get so tired of listening to him that they give in. It's his formula for success. It hasn't failed him yet.

6. This requires a strong counter strategy - War helped terrorists
Put the emphasis on how the Iraq war has undermined the War on Terrorism or "Struggle against Extremism" or what ever marketing term they're trying this month.

1 - Bin Laden and others got away because of the lack of ground troop commitment in Afghanistan
2 - Diversion of resources
3 - Undermining of alliances
4 - Loss of moral high ground
5 - Encouragement of anti-American extremism
6 - Created a new training and breeding ground
7 - Has empirically failed to reduce terrorism
8 - Exposed weaknesses in our military
9 - Divided the country
10 - Undermined credibility that will be needed in the future. (We cried wolf).

7. It will make it easier to spot the zombies.
When you see them, ask why they voted for high gas prices (Saudi friends and wartime economy).
