After a crazy night I think that some in GD need to chill out.
Edited on Sun Aug-21-05 05:31 PM by Melodybe
First let me apologize for being a moron when my adrenline goes through the roof, sometimes I can be a drama queen, but last night was different, I was really scared. I came here to talk to my GD insomniacs and thankfully I got plenty of comfort and support, but then I got a few posts from people really pissed that I didn't take my robbery and stalking story to the lounge.

Hello, the guy was right outside!!!!! He had been in my house earlier, we have 2 toddlers, what would you do? I had called the cops, I did not expect the people in GD to jump through my computer screen and karate chop the guy. Give me a break, I needed to talk so I came here.

The cops we great about everything. I don't know if they picked him up but after my 5th call about him walking back and forth past our house they patrolled the area from then on out.

I just needed to talk, while I understand that general disscussion is a politics thread, and while I love the lounge, this is usually were I do the majority of my posting, so I came here.

And just because I was freaked out doesn't mean that my problem had nothing to do with politics, I think that crackheads are not a sign of a healthy country or community. Especially when you find out about the CIA's involvement in drug trafficing in the early 80's throughout LA, look into it, Iran Contra is involved.

So eitherway, I think some of the people in GD need to chill.

This is coming from a highly energized and somewhat melodramatic person that also recognizes that she too needs to chill out sometimes. I think that a few of the posters here responded in a way that was harmful and insensitive, what if it was someone else in a much more tragic situation? After one has been the victim of a crime, they don't need to be ridiculed for not having the sense to follow posting rules, if you can't say something supportive keep it to yourself.

Everyone else was awesome, I just wanted to thank all the wonderful folks that were thinking of us, I appreciated the love and support. You guys helped, thank you, I feel much better now.

Lots of love,
Melody

Alls good, now, thanks.

4. I couldn't keep up last night
I'm glad that you feel better today. Getting robbed is upsetting. I don't blame you for feeling unglued and out of sorts. Sometimes it hits a person right away and sometimes it can be a delayed reaction. When a neighbor got robbed a while back it took me a few days before it hit me like a club. You take care!

8. Your right - the self appointed 'GD format' police
can be obnoxious.

Just ignore them, I do. GD definately needs to chill, then lounge people would feel more comfortable posting here.

I am glad you feel better and things worked out.

10. I think the concern was
you kept starting new threads and a lot of people had no idea what you were talking about. The first I became aware of something happening with you was when I read a thread starter saying the cops were there and something about your husband talking to them.

It just wasn't enough information. Maybe if you had linked the previous threads?

15. True, I just got a really pissy PM from one of the folks that criticized
me saying as much.

I wanted to respond but they blocked me from talking back.

Oh well, shit happens, sometimes I freak out about it, I generally look like an ass.

I am a work in progress, and I am too emotional sometimes, I freely admit it. I don't apologize for coming here though, I have friends here, I got talk to plenty that helped me calm down and get a grasp on the situation.

Those that want to critize, thanks, b/c unlike most, I take criticism to heart and try to use it constructively, hopefully it will make me a better person and a better member of the DU community.

16. I'm sorry if you thought I was being rude
I was just confused. Didn't mean to be cruel or anything though.

17. No, not at all! I was just acknowledging that it was confusing
Edited on Sun Aug-21-05 07:54 PM by Melodybe
for that I agree, and apologize.

There was other stuff in the PM that I will think about and try to work on, although I think that the person that sent it was kind of a jerk, it doesn't mean he was wrong about all of his observations, he just happens to be wrong about my motivations for posting last night. I was rightfully scared and I still think that some need to chill out about the GD rules.

You were just trying to figure out my crazy mix mash of threads, no reason to think that you offended me, you did not.

Big hug!

14. I was one who was confused, but also concerned
what a frightening series of events. Glad you and your family are now safe and sound. Hope the crackhead stays far away.

11. I was out at the time but as a DUer, want you to know I am glad you are
alright and that under the circumstances, I think you should be able to post in any forum you want. Imagine calling the business line of the police dept in an emergency and being referred to 911! For chris-sakes people need to relax! Uptight is not the word for it. :(
