Fuck People Magazine!!!
Edited on Sun Aug-21-05 05:58 PM by julialnyc
I think the freepers got to them (she was supposed to be on their cover and isn't (Brittney Spears is). The article is disgusting. The title is: One moms war......in the battle against a war that took her son's life,Cindy Sheehan may have become a casualty herself.

The piece is sooooooo bad.

Please write them in disgust (don't even mention the thing about being on the cover...... I don't think they would publish it if you did).

You may think People is a silly magazine, but it has one of the biggest distribution rates out of any publication that exists.

I wish I could find it online (it's too long for me to type out right now........... I'm running late for dinner). Read it if you can and write write write!

I can't stress how bad this is........... I work in Entertainment and People is soooooooo widely read that it is difficult to get into. This is disgusting uninformed freeper reporting (they make it seem like it is her all alone with tons of people against her.

Sorry for my poor writing, I'm running really late, but had to write this.

But that seemed relatively impartial to me. The way it sounded in the first post made it seem as though People had frickin' Rush Limbaugh or Sean Hannity writing for them.

What, are you expecting a major corporation to turn liberal?

12:55 AM

It is close to one in the morning here, and the threat appears to have passed. Anyone who has been on edge over this should understand the tension. These folks are on the edge of things out here, and the cops plus the flat bed tow truck made for ominous feelings.

Good news: Cindy will be on the cover of People Magazine. Time and Vanity Fair will interview her tomorrow. How many millions of readers do those magazines have?

Lots of millions.

To repeat, we are standing down for the time being.

They are supposed to be mixed human interests, but are usually all celebrity.

I'm not arguing that it is a good magazine or interesting material........................... it is just sooooooooo read by millions of people (the Oprah demographic............ who would relate to a mom like Cindy).

24. It's bad, but if that's all there is to it, I wouldn't be too worried.
Here's my question, though. What kind of man divorces his wife after about 2 weeks of being gone at a protest honoring their son?

I guess Cindy has been doing the whole gold star mom thing for a while too, though. A lot of mother's have huge difficulties with the death of a child though and many marriages don't survive that kind of stress.

at the time of the "meeting" with Shrub. They were only allowed so many minutes and she and her husband split it up.

My guess is that he has a GF who is putting pressure on him to get divorced. The guy could have waited until next month to have his lawyers file the papers. Ya just gotta wonder about people sometimes.

39. Sorry, but I expected better from them
I'll admit that I read People sometimes (my mom has had a subscription forever) and they actually do have human interest stories mixed in with the celebrity gossip that is usually on the more liberal side.

I really think the freepers wrote in mass to complain about the fact that they had said she would be on the cover, and I think we should write back in mass to complain about their crappy article.

No this is not The New Yorker, but you also have to think that magazines like that in a way are preaching to the choir (if you read those sorts of papers you probably have an opinion already formed). People has a huge distribution.......... and their number one demographic is mothers (the Oprah demographic). I think this is really bad.

41. here'sthe first two paragraphs, I'll type out the other three later
when I have more time:

Things only seem to get worse for Cindy Sheehan. Since august 6 she has been camped out two miles from George Bush’s ranch in Crawford Texas, determined to confront the President over the war in Iraq that claimed the life of her son Casey in April 2004.She has weathered the searing Texas heat, jeers from Bush supporters and even public criticism from her sister-in-law Cherie Quarterolo, who accused her of” promoting her own agenda at the expense of Casey’s good name”. It has taken a toll. Asked on day five of her vigil why she continues her lonely fight, Sheehan bursts into tears and says, “I have nothing else to lose”.
Whether she’s seen as a crusader or an opportunist, Sheehan, 48, has become a familiar face to millions- and a ghostly presence to those in her own life. Propelled by grief and rage, she has drifted far from her non-political life in Vacaville, California, that revolved around church and family. In July 04 she lost her administrative job with Napa County after failing to show up for work because of stress. Three months later she stopped talking to her best friend after learning the woman planned to vote for Bush. Now once sympathetic neighbors have backed away, discomforted by her charges that Bush “killed Casey; he’s killing other American soldiers.” Then during an Aug. 12 appearance on Good Morning America, she said that she and her husband, Patrick, had separated.

Thank you for writing to PEOPLE Magazine. We appreciate the interest that prompted your response and we welcome this opportunity to address your criticism.

We are sorry that you were disappointed in our article on Cindy Sheehan in the August 29th issue. It was not our intention to criticize or judge Ms. Sheehan and we regret your reaction to the contrary. Our editors believe that her efforts are newsworthy and we believe we provided readers with a fair and balanced report. While we regret that you were unhappy with our coverage, we appreciate your taking the time to share your thoughts with us and we are sorry that you will no longer be a PEOPLE reader.

Sincerely,

E. McIntyre
