CNN's Dead Wrong not a Slam Dunk
Hate to be negative but after reading many of the earlier posts I expected Dead Wrong to make the freak in chief and his administration look really bad. Maybe my expectations were too high but to me all the slams against the administration were kind of subtle. I think it made Tenant out as the bad guy and doesn't make * out to be the liar he is. Sure they mentioned DSM - but for those of us already very tuned in - that mention stuck out - I don't think Joe American not paying attention would really get that - Durbin made a few remarks that were bad for pResident Liar but again I thought subtle. Over all I can see "them" blaming the intelligence community and not even coming close to taking any kind of responsibility. You know the buck stop some where else.

5. That reminds me
did the special even mention Joe Wilson't editorial - I don't think I heard that mentioned - but I might have missed it.

2. I thought it was pretty damning of Bush, Powell, Cheney, Rice
& Rumsfeld, to pick a few names at random. It showed them lying, and made clear that they were lying. What more do you want?

13. I guess my point is
that almost nothing in that report was news to us - and we already think these ass holes are BIG FAT LIARS - I'm just wondering if the Sheeple who aren't tuned in would just shrug this off and say the intellignece agencies screwed up not the boy wonder and his admin.

I do agree however that it is fabulous that this was aired at all given the state of the MSM

33. A crucifixion at best.
Unanswered, thought-provoking questions posed at the end of the show.

Instead... "slam dunk", tenent, powell, cia failures were pounded into john q. public's brain.

3. It does indeed get weak toward the end, but...
Edited on Sun Aug-21-05 11:17 PM by Hissyspit
This is the best we've seen from cable news so far. My earlier comments were to the effect that early on in the show, it was clearly not going to be a complete whitewash, and that it was worthwhile being aware of what had been shown.

There were plenty of comments from the intelligence people saying this was not all our fault. No, I think a lot of Americans saw this stuff all together in the same place for the first time, and every little bit helps.

6. I disagree.
There were some very damning moments for the major players, i.e., Bush/Powell/Cheney/Rumsfeld/and especially Rice. They were proven to be a bunch of liars, and CNN didn't sugarcoat it.

If the reactions are positive, maybe they will dig deeper....I can dream, can't I?I emailed them and thanked them for their piece, and encouraged them to explore more aspects of the story(they are used to getting scathing emails regarding their poor war coverage)

this may be huge to them in site. where as we know so much and so much isnt covered and so many more wrongs have been committed that it seemed a puff piece. but for someone new to this stuff, especially the beginning of it could be powerful. seeing the words out of bush cheney rice and rummy's mouth

11. Maybe people don't need absolutely spelled out for them
and maybe CNN held back a bit so as not to look like a mouthpiece for the Left -thus discrediting the info in the show.

I think the attacks on Bush were subtle but effective, and it may be only a harbinger of where things are going in the near future concerning Media coverage of Bush BS.

20. Well, its CNN, the corporate hoe controlled right-wing media.
It went as far as it could and threw some sucker punches, without alienating certain viewers. It isn't perfect and it definitely would never be balanced, but it turned alot of heads again to really oppose the war lies..

24. It put a lot of information out there that the general public was not
aware of before. Sure, WE knew about it. If it was up to us, everyone would have known about it a long time ago. We spread the word as fast and as best as we can, but there are many who haven't heard.

CNN put it out there tonight. Yes, they pointed out Tenet, but they also made it very clear that he took the fall for the WH. A lot of damaging information was put out there tonight, and lot of people saw it.

This might not have been the perfect program, but it was a huge step in the right direction. The whole show, I couldn't believe that I was really seeing all of this on CNN. Cindy put the question out there. She put a face on the tragedy. She wants answers, and she's not getting them. More and more people are looking, and CNN knows it.

27. It surely was a huge step in the right direction
and my expectations might have been too high as I said. But you know the saddest part of the whole program for me was to relive the Senate vote for the IWR - that was one of the saddest days of my life so many Dems who I had admired let me down and broke my heart. I wonder in their heart of hearts how they really feel about that vote now that over 1,850 Americans dead, tens of thousands wounded, God only knows how many Iraqis - do you think the Dems can still rationalize their vote - how pathetic.

26. I'll tell you what I wish ...they should have presented all of the neocon-
PNAC ties to big oil, all of the profits that these companies have made, and disclosed every basta... in the BFEE who has benefited by their war profiteering, and then let the public really put the facts together. We not only went to war based on faulty info (LIES) but the ones that lied to us are making money off of the DEAD! It is repulsive beyond belief!

Can you imagine a jury decision on this one if all of the facts were presented coherently and in a logical sequential order? The problem is with MSM. Since the election, I have become so attuned to the lies of media.

29. Damage to Bush from 1 to 10 on the Mclaughlin scale. Eleanor would say 9
Tony Blakeley would give it a 7, Pat Buchannan, an 8 and our old friend Lawernce O'Donnell gives it a 10.

I'm also giving it a 10.

31. I did not say it didn't make him look bad
I said the things that made him look bad were subtle and I think folks who are not as tuned in to this as we are will come away and think it was the intelligence agencies that screwed up and that the freak and chief can use that as an excuse.

Maybe I'm just too impatinet and want every one of the MSM to stand up and say the little rat bastard Crawford Coward is a lying SOB and should be taken immediately from the Western White House or the White House White House to a maximum security prison!

35. I agree. It was tightly focussed on Tenet and only
implicated the actual policy makers through all-too-subtle suggestion. I thought they came off as too scared to describe the situation plainly.

Still- it was the most critical and honest account of the Bush Administration's Iraq sales pitch that I've yet seen on US cable news. More than I usually expect from these Wall Street PR firms called cable news stations.
