Damn those 'Cut and Run' Liberals!
Edited on Mon Aug-22-05 07:34 AM by mopaul

3. Ah the invasion of the DLC bodysnatchers
I have not been hearing as much of their apologetic rationalization the past few visits I have made to DU. Seems to have peaked around the time DUers were calling Sen. Clinton on the carpet for her escapades into RW censorship. Are they worn down already?

11. Yeah it's damned shame
That anybody who disagrees with you is allowed on Democratic Underground.

I mean if only we all had exactly the same ideas - that would be ideal.

16. No that would not be ideal.
But I am damned tired of the DLC and their apologists coming on here and telling us how we can make sure the Democratic party can keep failing. They come over here and spew the same kind of nonsense one would hear on Free Republic. And they defend every DINO in congress who acts like a good little lap dog. I am tired of it, and I do not have to sit and be a lapdog to the right, nor to the DLC apologists on here with whom I do not agree.

17. I have things I am tired of as well
As I suppose we all do.

I'm not a huge fan of the DLC - I think they are kind of sad really, but I think their supporters have as much right to join the discussion as any of the rest of it.

21. Of course they've got the right
And they've also got the right to push back against the terrifying unAmerican lefty hordes that assail them here. Which they exercise regularly. They yell at us, we yell back. There's no subversion of rights, what's the problem?

2. I guess St. Reagan was a "cut-and-run" liberal, then
when he pulled U.S. troops out of Lebanon after the 1983 bombing of the Marine barracks in Beirut. We need to remind the RW about this.

6. watch the GOP run for the door
as the election gets nearer.
So much for "staying the course" and
"supporting the troops' and "Iraqi Democracy".
These opportunistic little fucks ran into the
war because they were gutless, and
they'll be running away from it just
as hard in 6 months.

5. and what happens to Iraq?
Unless you know more about Iraq than I do, these are the options...

1) Civil War/Genocide.
2) Kurdish Secession - Turkey, Iran and Syria invade and see point 1.
3) Iranian Friendly Sharia law based Theocracy - which will suck for Women, Children, Jews, Christians in Iraq, everybody in Israel/Palestine and Moderate Muslims.

I mean, if we leave now, we can't even hope for a Saddam Like secular thug. We do owe something to these people and while the daily loss of our soldiers and our money is a bad option, it is the least bad option.

If you have evidence other than wishful thinking (and let us remember - wishful thinking got us and the Iraqis into this mess), I'd like to hear it.

9. There is no "good" outcome.
Let's pick the one that kills fewer Americans.

15. Short Term or Long Term...
Nobody thought Afghanistan was worth our military back in the early 1990's. If somebody made an honest effort, the Twin Towers would still be standing today.

If Iraq goes bad, we will have greater risk of Terrorism.

Since the insurgency would stop.

10. So, we should "pick up the white man's burden"?
Perhaps the Iraqis could work out their own problems with their own country without our "help" which has killed thousands of them.

America managed to do it with some rather horrible birthing pains. Several "insurrections" (Shay's, the Whiskey Rebellion, etc). Bloody Kansas, the Civil War, and a big dose of genocide for the Indians.
Not to mention the existence of slavery which we are still paying for.

From our history as nation builders we are hardly glowing examples of how to go about it.

Our efforts in Iraq and Afghanistan have only resulted in chaos.

Time to get out. Call it "cut and run" or "peace with honor" but get the hell out of a country that doesn't want us there.

13. We owed 'these people' NOT to attack them in the first place.
We had no right. They don't want us there, never did. It's time to leave.

14. There's An Easy Reply To This
"We've been there twice. This time it's been well over two years. Leaving now sure isn't Cutting and Running. We won the battles. We overthrew a dictator. We're already victorious. Why bother to stay longer?"

Even if one doesn't believe that these are victories, it definitely shuts down the "cut & run" insult.

20. It's been "missioned accomplished" for over two years now. Liberators not
occupiers was the deal. So....

It's like these folks don't remember Viet Nam...although they're singing the same song we heard for years then.
