Why are they attacking American kids at a concert? Is this supposed to be part of their training for God's sake?

17. And this from the Salt Lake Tribune
Police raid rave party in Spanish Fork Canyon
Party's over: 90 officers from several agencies cite 60 at the event, which had more than 400 people in attendance
By Michael N. Westley (mwestley@sltrib.com)
The Salt Lake Tribune

About 60 people were arrested Saturday night when police officers busted an illegal rave in Spanish Fork Canyon.
Those arrested were cited on a variety of charges including the possession of illegal narcotics, weapons violations, DUI, illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor, disorderly conduct, assaulting a police officer and drug distribution.
The youngest of those cited was 15 years old, said Utah County Sheriff's Sgt. Dan Gilbert.
Police in Utah County have monitored several raves this summer and have grown increasingly concerned about their legality and safety, Gilbert said. When detectives got word that another party was planned for Saturday, they set to work to make sure they got their point across that such activity was not welcome in their area.
"The Sheriff's Office will investigate and look into and find an illegal mass gathering going on, we will take the appropriate action to stop the party at that time," Gilbert said.....
Investigators learned that no permit had been requested for a mass gathering which requires a bond and Utah County Commission approval for groups larger than 250, said Gilbert....

13. There are two law things going on here - and a lot of culture and religion
Edited on Mon Aug-22-05 09:33 AM by higher class
All facts related to the law should be checked out before either party claims that they complied with the law.

The most gaping contradiction is the number of people that were supposed to be on the property according to the accounts. Was there a maximum of 250? Who granted the permit and what does it say?

If the gathering was legal, what does the law say about breaking up a gathering to run a drugs and sexual attack defense/offense?

There are a thousand facts to learn before letting the tempers flare. It is doubtful that both sides are right.

In the larger conext - this regime and many followers do not seem to like gatherings of any kind where there may be dissentors and it is probably safe to make a first assumption that the police action here was motivated by a culture and political difference (combined with religion).

16. It seemed to say you need a permit for more than 250 --
-- and according to the promoters and the musician, they had gotten all the permits necessary. This is happening somewhere in California, too.

14. Tip of the iceberg
Once they get us used to these various forms of control, law will be arbitrary. Might makes right.

And remember, liberals all and I love you for it...you have to live to tell the tale. Don't let them disarm those of us that care to have them. We seek to defend ourselves, and all others we can. You have to live to tell the tale.

And lets not forget Miranda went away over a year ago. There is no longer a requirement to tell us our rights. It's gone, totally. You either know your "rights", or you don't. Remain silent...and see what happens to you. They target our kids for now, those younger and least able to know the right and wrong of all this.

I guess, with national security, those rights really and truly don't matter at this point, in any case. So...I guess that legal decision was a good call. Prophetic even.

18. Ravers=Hippies Techno show = Doors Concert
Haven't we been here before, folks?

This is an absolute outrage!!

I attended a rave a few years ago and had a package of glow sticks confiscated as "drug paraphenlia"... so this doesn't suprise me, but the violence of this incident does surprise me.

23. Scary stuff....this really should be on Olberman's show.....
The press release from the authorities just documents their "over the top" tactics. Swat teams, 2 cops for every teenager, advance knowledge of "illegal" rave yet wait so they can inflict the most damage??

26. Police/Military
Edited on Mon Aug-22-05 01:36 PM by mrfrapp
I have no idea if it was police or military but according to what I'm seeing in the video they have some scary police over in Utah if that's what they are.

I'm not sure what's more worrisome, the military used as law enforcement or police acting like the military.
